Time to trade it
I had the sport shields on my Triton. Hated them. The only thing they did was block some rain when riding up on plane. Other than that I thought they were worthless.
Now, I really appreciate a walk-thru windshield. Not only does it block out that same rain, but a hug amount of NoDak wind is cutoff from us on this side of the glass. I'd never go back to a bubble/sport shield again.
My $0.02
I towed mine about an hour this weekend to the big lake without the cover, and it made me nervous.....
I will now cover mine no matter what. Man I dont want to deal with that! Hopefully canvas helps but I suppose it still could break given the right sicheeation.
I did my boat windshield breakage on Friday of this week, wife was back in Dickinson so I had her call the dealer, they need the serial numbers from the boat to get the exact part number to order, but stated the cost would be in the 3,000 to $4,000 range. Guessing that is for an entire windshield, not just the section that broke.
They also said it can take 6 weeks to get the part, and another couple weeks to fix it.
Wonder why it takes 6 weeks to get a windshield. If this was your car or truck you could have the windshield tomorrow and probably installed that day or the next. I'm also pretty sure your car or truck windshield cost would not approach $1000.
I have a small 6 inch seam that has come undone on the back part of my tarp, I didn't want to run down the road with the tarp on, like I have since owning the boat, for fear of the tarp ripping. So I took it off in the morning, and busted my windshield instead...;:;banghead
