Found these in an old tool box and have no idea what they are for. They have a ratchet mechanism on the side to hold them in place and some funky ends. Anybody got a clue? Thanks!

Or, a butter churn stick.
No. This was definitely used for something back in the old days. Thought an old timer on here might have used one before.Looks to me like someone was doing some lathing and only took the roughed out piece of wood so far and stopped. Does the angular section still have the centered circular dent left from lathing?
Nope there's just this one. Found it in the basement of a 100+ year old farm house.looks like it could be a push stick for an old weaving loom to push the shuttle through the weave to the person on the other side ? what's the history behind it ? there should be two of them if that's what it is. we had a loom when I was a kid, it was a 6' and only strung up to 3' to make rugs but I remember it had two pushing sticks that we never used.
