Feeling pretty fortunate so far. Lots of people sick at work also. So far I have not caught anything major. Had a fever and chills for 2 days then was back at work, this was in January. But man the last two weeks at work were pretty bad. At one time I think there was over half of us gone.

I've had a hacking phlegm cold/sinus issue for about 7 weeks now. Even got a round of antibiotics that didn't kill it. It's getting old.

Got the cough (non productive), fever, headache, body ache thing a couple weeks ago. Missed a couple days of work, feeling much better now, but food still tastes funny so might not be totally over it. I did have a flu shot, but they are only good for the ones they think are going to be prevalent that year. Lot's of different flu viruses out there.

[h=3]Influenza Symptoms[/h]Influenza (also known as the flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by flu viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. The flu is different from a cold. The flu usually comes on suddenly. People who have the flu often feel some or all of these symptoms:

  • Fever* or feeling feverish/chills
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headaches
  • Fatigue (tiredness)
  • Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults.
  • It all sucks bad.

I should have gotten sick more than what I have. One 5 day cold and that's about it. Mucinex, dayquil, and probably an unhealthy amount of nyquil and I was good by the weekend. I see no less than 5 sick people a day. for what it's worth, hand sanitizer is on sale at menards.

Now that sounds like a good cure for phnomia

our house has been lucky,

migraine for me (1),

wife a 2 day cold (she says she has a super immune system

kid missed 1 day at work for a cold.

no flu shots for any of us and the wife and kid work at a convenience store and cafe so they are exposed to the public, myself I had been pretty much confined to my maintainer moving snow all winter until the past couple weeks.

I think i got mine when my son got his... I tested negative for the flu but they just test for one or two strain of flu... Maybe I have a different strain ...

The rapid influenza test is only about 60% sensitive, meaning that 40% of people who have influenza will test negative by the rapid test. I think it's more related to the limitations of the test itself rather than not testing for the correct strains. If you have typical symptoms of influenza (rather abrupt onset of fever, along with aches, sore throat, cough) and there is influenza going around (like there is now), doing the rapid test is pretty worthless.

Yea our son is just turning a year! I know what you mean!!! Heard there was a kid at day care last week that had phnomia!! Of course when we asked the daycare denied everything.

Kentucky: I've missed out on 3 weekends of ice fishing because not this !!! It will be 4 weeks if I don't get better in 5 days

Aint that the truth! I think I had dysentery a few weeks ago.

Sawyer,
Me and both kids are battling it too. I haven't been tested yet but I did have a flu shot which I think I'm gonna give up on.

Hadn't been sick in 4 years..Howwwwever, this winter i am on my 3rd cold and went through a 3 day flu which started Dec 23rd of course that almost made me see thee light. Between trying to make it to the bathroom at 2 am (coming out both ends every hour nonstop..) and feeling so cold/dehydrated that all i could do was lay in the tub full of water as hot as it could be til the water heater couldnt keep up, I honestly didnt think i could i could make it out of the tub after 2 hours and that was after barely making it there in the first place!

As far as these 3 colds have went and come back after a month; 1st day is absolute constant runny nose and tough to speak; then it just lingers and lingers with stuff in the throat and blowing of the nose for 2-3 weeks. Something is definitely effed up or in the air, but im starting to wonder if allergy is an actual word.. or maybe #obamaspartinggift?
