If its going to be zero this time of year, it might as well just be -20 and make some good ice. After this coming weekend it can warm back up to the 20's and i wont care the rest of winter.

Yeah, this should make the ice ice think enough to get out the big house now. Interestingly, I was in Beulah this weekend and was surprised how much of the big lake was still open. The steam coming off the lake Monday when it was -15 was impressive.

That'd be me. And the calls are starting to trickle in. Thanks goodness. That warm start to December was a budget murderer.

I love it ice in front of my house went from 3-4 inches to 14 inches in a week went from tip toeing to driving my side x side with the big house I do like fishing in comfort so I'm good for it to warm a little but I'm fine if it doesn't lol

These temps aren't fun when your working midnight shifts over the holidays in a big plant that processes liquids. And the majority of it is sitting outdoors, not fun at all. Sure glad the wind hasn't been too bad. Rember about 10 years back around my birthday the beginning of January and it was -43f real temp working outside fighting that stuff. Guess it could be lots worse.
Happy holidays!

Lincoln, kinda...
It was early January in 1988 where I was chaining out of the hole wet on a drilling rig that changed my life. Nothing like spending 8 hours soaked in hot, then cold, diesel fuel based mud on a -40 degree day to encourage a career change. I went into the Marines a couple months later.

After wiping my glasses off enough to see following a dose of mud, I looked across the rig floor at the guy working motors. He was in his late 50s and I said there's no effing way I am doing this for the next 30 years.

No regrets!

20 below or 20 above I don't care as long as it doesn't snow, got enough plowing snow last year to last me for a long time.

Wasn't me! Chopping a spear hole through 2 ft of ice is less than entertaining. I'll take enough ice to drive my truck on and then we can quit making ice until spring. Thanks!!

Allen, I have a lot of respect for drilling rig and workover rig crews in weather like this, they are wet all the time
