Anyone want to take a guess who authored the following quotes? No fair using Google. My favorite is the one about tact.

"The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter."

"If you are going through hell, keep going."

"A lady came up to me one day and said 'Sir! You are drunk', to which I replied 'I am drunk today madam, and tomorrow I shall be sober but you will still be ugly."

"We can always count on the Americans to do the right thing, after they have exhausted all the other possibilities."

"You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life."

"A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on."

"History will be kind to me for I intend to write it."

"Tact is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip."

"Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened."

OK smart guys, try this one.

[h=2]''Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first.''[/h]

Oo, Oo, I found a better one.

[h=2]''Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedies.''[/h]

You going for the one who most think said it or the guy who actually said it first. Had to look up the real guy because I couldn't remember his name but remembered who often gets the credit with a bunch of his other ones.

Some wealthy lobbyist on the first one.

The second one is not so much of a quote as it is the Democratic party's operating principle.
