Haha Love it. To be honest I have not and probably never will bring a banana on my boat just incase, I seem to have plenty of bad luck the way it is.

when I was a kid I was superstitious about fishing, and baseball. "lucky" fishing hat, lure, rod, etc. I think it's dumb now, make your own luck

Bananas on a boat are the only superstitious myth I have ever paid any attention too. I was told about it by an old timer fisherman when I was a little kid and it stuck.

Back in the 70's banana's on our boat was a hoot one day . Dad and I were headed back down to the boat and a Native American dude was walking back toward us from our boat eating a banana he had just stole off our boat and dad being dad didn't miss a beat . He hollered at me " Jim go back up to the truck and get that poison banana we have for the carp . I thought I left it on the boat but I must have forgot . " The dude jamming his finger down his throat and puking was priceless . That and the ensuing argument and the old man kicking three dudes ass's .

I never sit with my back to the door, I don't like crowds, always 28 rounds in a 30 round magazine.

However, I think bananas are a good idea.

I'm not superstitious, but I fished several times with a salt water Captain that was. He ABSOLUTELY would NOT allow bananas on his boat. Watch a standoff at 3am between him and a patron about the banana in the guys lunch. It was 400 bucks to fish on this guys boat and when the guy refused to give up his banana as he'd paid his money already, the Captain took out four 100 dollar bills handed them to the guy, threw his rod, reel, and other stuff on the dock, and then told him to get off the boat or he was going overboard. The first mate "Helped" him off the boat and told him never to come back. We left at 3:15 am. That was the only time I ever saw this Captains boat one short of the full 6 pack of anglers. His boat was always full and his normal customers never pushed the Captain about the boat rules. That guy made Captain Kieth of the Wizard look like an amateur in the superstition department.

I had lucky shirts, lucky rods, etc. I had belief in them for a while when I was a kid. Not real superstitious anymore. I will turn around when a black cat runs across my path on occasion, though. That or swear I saw a white patch on it.

When I was up in Canada, our native guide would always toss a couple smokes out of his pack into the water to "the gods" for safe travels. He also would dump some of whatever he was drinking in the lake.

Now I believe in attitude in a big way. I used to go out without any thoughts or expectations and that was ok. Now I always go out to tear them up. If I don't, I got a tough trip out of the way so the next one will be stellar.

If you disallowed Hostess fried pies I'd sneak. That's retarded. For a healthy balance one MUST alternate between cherry and apple until the "new" Hostess pulls their head out and begins offering the variety of the glorious sweet past.

I also never sit with my back to the door. Always pick the item to the farthest left and never take the item closest to me in the store, i always take one that is in a few spaces, like odd numbers, always pick tails, and if i get a good feeling about something i go with it and if a funny feeling about something i don't do it. In grade and high school i really had things i had to do and things i wouldn't do before a game.
Funny how these things came to be and one went with it.

If one would go huntng and get his animal, i was always thankful for allowing and blessing me with the animal. I also thanked God for providing me and my family with the nourishment .
When driving i try and stay so far away from a vehicle and have always told my kids life is a game of inches and milli-seconds. Have had many things happen in my life where i got a sense to do something whether slow down or speed up and an accident occurred either in front of behind me, or a deer would cross in front or behind me.
Weird i know but so goes life!

Not terribly superstitious but I have a few things now and then. I have zero problem if I forget the net, just seems like the best days are when you aren't the best prepared. Confidence is the big thing, I know I don't give some methods a fair shot because of it. Casting plastics without at least being tipped with a minnow is one of them. I'll try it and only give it a few casts and switch because I don't have much faith in it.

I WILL NOT allow bananas on the boat. NO WAY! Had them snuck on a couple times and the fishing sucked until we got rid of them.

Other things- I hate new fishing rods. They generally bring a bad OMEN so I have to break them one at a time because I can't jinx the boat with a complete set at the same time. If I spill my coffee packing the boat the day sucks, I now take great care in making sure that coffee stays in the cup until I want it.

Lastly: The Sioux hockey team almost never wins if I don't get my parking spot. So to you little Honda- Get out of my spot, we need some home wins.
