Pulled the plug and bought the Ken Onion Edition. I have three filet knives, three sets of blades for the mowing deck on my lawn tractor, two blades for the lawn mower, and lots of hunting/steak knives.

I hope the thing will pay for itself when comparing $25 sharpening fee for each set of mower blades I take in. Two sets last month cost me $42. If not, I'll be happy with filet and hunting knives being edged like a razor again.

I also have the Ken Onion. Haven't used it for mower blades. Keep us posted on how that goes. I have an attachment for the dremel that I planned on using to sharpen the mower blade.

Me too, I'd be there a month of Sundays sharpening my mower blades if I tried to use a belt sharpener!

Then again, I only mow about 3 times a year. You can get away with that if the dirt is flying when you do mow.

+4. Clamp it in the vice, let the sparks fly, check balance and repeat as necessary.

I've never sharpened mower blades. By the time they start doing a crappy job cutting they're shot.

there are some great videos on YouTube of sharpening knives with a worksharp. Really helps to watch them for the tips on how not to round the tip on your knife. Basically don't leave the worksharp running and pull knife all the way through. Use the side of the button where it shuts off when you let go. Then let go of it when the tip comes onto the belt. Works really well. Just wished I'd have watched it before effing up a few knives.
