I was up in lake of the woods a while back, cleaning my catch at a resort and an older gentleman asked if I was saving the perch eggs. He said they were very good fried. Any good advice about this?

We used to but it's been a while , From what I remember It doesn't have a lot of flavor/taste to it. I used to sprinkle it with salt and pepper and it tasted just like salt and pepper.

You can bread and fry it just like a fillet. Be very careful not to overcook for a couple reasons, one it's just plain gross and two if the seal on the eggsac is broken or your breading doesn't have adequate coverage you will get tiny scalding projectiles flying around your kitchen. I gotta admit it is pretty funny. Be prepared for a textural adventure regardless.

Don't forget about the male gonads. On "Alone" the guy was eating fish sperm raw.

We Bread or flour and pan fry. Not bad. Not great. Good food source though. Nearly as much egg in a jumbo as there is fillet.

If one of you egg eaters fishes with me, you can have all the fish spawn. Feckin gross.

Tried them several years ago. Deep fried with a batter. Thought the texture was like eating a chicken nugget with a fish flavor. Did not think they were gross but for some reason never tried them again. Then again when I tried them there were several of us, drinking beer, telling stories and decided we needed to eat. Perhaps the ambience made them better than they were.

If I ever were to try any it would be the bright red salmon eggs. They look tempting but have never taken the plunge.

Not even if you cover them in water softener salt and Mexican vanilla

95% of fresh water fish roe = survival food. The other 5% they con you into thinking it is a delicacy.

All this advice coming from the refined palates of the Son's of Norway.

P.S. I absolutely LOVE a good ceviche. Looking forward to a giant bowl with some home made tortilla chips in a couple weeks.

Escargot in a garlic butter is also fantastic, BTW.

P.S. P.S. If you guys find a bunch of jumbo snails floating about, please let me know.
