My middle son moved to Montana for the hunting. He couldn't decide which to buy first, a house, a new car, a jet boat, lion hounds, a 4x4 side by side, or horses. He gave up making that tough decision and bought them all the first year. He helped me on that bear I shot last fall. I already need a new lightweight rifle for the scabbard on the horse. Hmmmmm what to get?

That would be sweet boat to have on the river. I think they are made out of aluminum.

Most likely those boats are heavy gauge aluminum usually with a one piece seamless bottom. Most of the hunting boats with mud motors will have a .125" thick hull with a robust stringer design. Some good stump, log, road, beaver dam jumping videos of those boats as well.

We were out in Idaho a couple years ago and went for a ride in one.

They said it was 1/4" thick aluminum.

I bet when they finally come to a rest, 100 yards from the water, they're a real bugger to push back in. Maybe I missed the wheels.

Years ago, a buddy rode his jetski up the shore at Nelson Lake, all the way to the campfire. It was raining, so the cattails and grass were wet, and he came to a rest right next to the camper. Got off and grabbed a beer like it was the most natural thing. I about tipped over, laughing.

I can't remember the brand but they had a similar jet boat with UHMW plastic sheet bolted to a 1/4" aluminum hull. Pretty serious setup!

Buddy brought up his big ass river pro up here a few years ago and that this was blast on the river! Rule with that boat is if you can't see it above the water it doesn't matter and if it is above the water it still probably doesn't matter. We wanted to get a bite to eat so we headed to the broken oar coming up from the south. When we got there we just cut over to the east side of the first piling and swung around to the left into the channel to slow down to come into dock. We didn't think anything of it till half the people there asked how we did that! Apparently we ran through 50 yards of water around ankle-deep and they couldn't believe we didn't get stuck. Problem is with Jet Boats is if you do ever get some place where you get stuck you are totally screwed because no one and no vehicle will ever be able to get close to you! Must say it was a shit load of fun jumping trees ( albeit nothing as far out of the water is the one in the video) and small sandbars for kicks and giggles.

Late 90's I had a brand new, Sea-Doo XP. Super duper fun. Anyhow, was running up the channel in what we called "Christmas Tree Island", which is on the Missouri, just north of the Interstate Bridge, on the Bismarck side. Water was low, and the channel was far too shallow for any outboards. Anyhow, I ran up that channel at full throttle, until I started feeling that I was tapping bottom. Continued to pin the throttle until ran out of water.

It took me, literally, all afternoon to pull that machine back to about 8" of water, where it would float.

Serves me right...

I was out night lighting ducks at night to put radios on them. I was using a surplus airboat used as a gun boat in Vietnam. The hull was a foot thick and it had a 300 horse Lykomen engine. Heavy, heavy, heavy, and I made the mistake of slowing down on a 1/4 mile wide mud flat. One time another guy was driving, and two of us were netting. He grounded it in soft mud. Thank goodness it was soft because we shook the front back and fourth as he gunned the engine. It broke loose as it was pointed at the other guy. He couldn't stop or the guy would have been trapped under the boat. Pressed him right into the mud on his back. Lucky it was a smooth hull or his face would have been more sore.

Lucky it was light enough to push or that would have literally been up shit creek!
