When all conditions are favorable, the limiting factor is now carrying capacity of the habitat. It's pretty simple.
What kinda trees you putting in fritz, the deer have ate all our green ash back so they are bushes up here.
that's gay
that's gay
Touche Ha...but technically those are pedestals

So what is holding you back? Can you operate a shovel or hoe, carry three gallons of spray/water on your back?
Dr. Bobkat bought some land southwest of Mandan years ago and spent every summer turning it into his dream habitat. Sweat equity. (I'd be willing to bet it's nice) And then he posted it....... No Hunting.
There are two Coverlocks parcels near me. One is 160 acres and leafy spurge from end to end. (Absentee landowners) The other is 640 acres with tree plantings in each corner. Solid wormwood. (open to hunting but not nice)
There have been some new resources guys have been using up here and there is alot more cover in the last two years and i can tell a difference. With corn not worth any thing it seems the guys around here have found ways to make it more productive to plant back to grass and other cover crops vs the in put of planting corn

I guess I missed where I was complaining that more needed to be done to prop up the pheasant population. I'm speaking from a biological standpoint that is in direct correlation to any biome. The drought (less forage/water), haying crp because of the drought (less cover/habitat) equals poor reproduction success.
What little land my family owns, it is rented to another family member that farms. The tree rows are taken care of by him. I'd be lying if I say I hunt it more than once a year. It's posted by yours truly in the event that I don't go to SW ND with my neighbor or parents neighbor.
Now, I'll let you and your little, well rather large, buddy pat each other on the back.
weeds can be both a pain and blessing as that thick tangle of shit the pheasants do love
mostly pain for every one but the person who just lets it go and does not care
There is a reason I added that Bobkat posted it. This same discussion happened on FBO and I poked Bobkat about posting it. Holy shit, everyone came out of the woodwork defending his right to do that because he worked his ass off. I concur.
So are you actually "ignoring" me or was that little quip aimed at me? If it was, how would you know just how big a boy I am?![]()
We lost 1.8 million acres crp and were scheduled to lose another what 400k next year. Wind, Snow rain hail yote- it all has an effect - but the loss of those acres has more impact then all the rest in my opinion. I am glad that i was alive during one of the best periods for rooty huntin. I remember the 70s --when i first starting hunting rootys -- it was tough going/its better now then it was then. On the flip side -- i have a Pheasant or two outside my camper in a field up by devils lake -- that sucker some how makes it through the winter and wakes me up every frickin morning.
