I have to say, sound on water carries unbelievably. We all know it. But if you ban "fanboats", because they're loud, then you need ban jetskis, because they're loud.

Then any two stroke motors have to go. Especially big ones. No outboards over 200HP period. Then we need "quiet hours" on the river, where it's idle only. Then we need to have quieter guns...

You see where this is going.

Less laws.. enforce the ones we already have, but don't make more laws to ignore.

Before this gets out of hand, I did NOT say ban them outright. I said their use in wildlife management areas where wildlife protections exist and are a priority. It wouldn’t be all that different than having to park at a designated area and walk in from there. In any case, I’ll drop it.

thats not a bad deal. If they have travel routes then park in certain areas so every one is on the same playing field. its the guy who builds next to a noisy area then bitches is what gets me

If the land owner is there prior yes they should not have to put up with loud noise. From the sounds of it this dumb ass built a house knowing full well what the use is. Why should every one else be punished for his stupidity? If you build a house next to a race track that has been there since the 60's should the cars have to be quite now?

I don't like the way this sounds. The guy leases land from the COE, I'm assuming he had to show plans and get a permit to build the house. I think they should tell him to pound sand. I have a feeling if this were to go to court concessions would have to be made for him.

When I was a kid, there was an airboat/hovercraft thing out on the river by the Garrison Dam tailrace. He came haulin' @ss up the ramp, drove right to his truck, parked and got out. Guy was actually wearing a helmet. I was about 8 years old, and had just seen the coolest thing in the universe...

As is usual inconsiderate people cause problems for others. Here we have a landowner who builds to close to a public use facility and then complains about the noise. On the other hand we have certain individuals who apparently have no concern for others around them while using a very loud boat. It sounds to me like no one involved is using any common sense or has any common courtesy.

On a lake I frequent there is an individual who occasionally brings a racing type boat to run around the smallish lake. It's loud, obnoxiously loud, and an near as I can tell the boats only purpose is to shoot a big tall of water out the back and make noise that can be heard all over the lake. The good news is that it can't be much fun as it's rarely on the water for an hour and then gone for the day or at least back at the dock.

Common sense and courtesy goes a long ways in keeping the peach.

There is a guy that brings his speed boat ,with a V8 and straight headers, out once in a while at Fort Stevenson. Its yellow and purple, has the name Knotty Bitch on the back. On a calm evening he will bring it out and play with it for a short while. You can here it all the way from Riverdale when he runs over there. He is usually out for such a short time that the noise doesn't last long.

I know in a number of states you can use an Argo on ground like wma's due to the fact they are treated and therefore licensed like a boat in that state.
