That's the question. Do you want a DI program in a conference that if you win you get a shot, or be the big Dogs of the FCS? I've always wondered why States like WY and Idaho can have DI programs but not the Dakotas?
Without hesitation or doubt, big dogs of the FCS. Why would anyone trade an honest shot at a championship trophy every year for an honest shot at getting beat by 40 on national television once? That is what is going to happen to the Dukes at Oregon. Wyoming and Idaho have FBS programs because they are closer to other FBS programs making travel tolerable budget wise. Last year the rumor was NDSU to the Mountain West Conference. I wonder what it costs to fly 58 kids and equipment from Fargo to Hawaii for a conference game?
NDSU has a great thing going. Seven men's sports, seven women's sports. None horrible, most competitive. Leave that alone. We don't want them to end up like UND wrestlers or UND women's hockey players and budget cuts. But hey...they have that BIG TIME hockey program right...?

All the big dogs of FCS have moved to FBS. It's beyond time to move but you need a conference invite to do so. Ideally you'd want the Dakota's and Montana's to get together to form a northern FBS conference at some point. P4 won't allow it at the moment.

You assume that the G6 will continue to get a spot in the playoffs. After this year the p4 may finally had enough and split off and do their own thing. NDSU would have to get into a top conference to get selected for the playoff too. The MWC and CUSA were not too good this year.

NDSU may have to add a womens team if they step up to the FBS. Also UND never had wrestling I believe

No I do not assume, that is why I said a shot once. It's not going to stay the way it is. Hopefully it goes to 24 teams. It won't, but a guy can hope.
UND had wrestling, dropped it for budget reasons, resurrected it and dropped it again. I had a classmate that was a 2x state champion that was a 2x all-American wrestling there. And a neighbor from when I was a kid that was a 2x all-American wrestling there. And my sisters classmate was an all-American there. For a long time, through most of the 90's, then POOF, gone. One of the reasons I hate UND. Recruit kids for sports, then drop the whole damn program. Just plain wrong.

Missouri State moved up to D1 this year, finished 7-5 and are playing in a bowl game. They've always finished mid to low in the MVFC. No reason to think the Bison couldn't do the same.

Tough year for them as UND won more playoff games than they did.

UND isn't D1 either then, why don't they move up? Maybe because they just suck at football....

You are correct that UND wouldn't be considered D1 either. The truth is that no one cares about FCS football (or DII or DIII) outside of the fans of those schools. NDSU has nothing left to prove at their level and should either move up or quit bragging about beating up on inferior competition. As gay as soccer is, the professional leagues in Europe have it correct. The best teams each year move up a level the following year and the worst teams move down a level. Hell, even beer league softball in ND does that.

You are incorrect that UND sucks at football. Having a winning record and being ranked all year does not = sucking.

Finally, do you know what the difference between a porcupine and the Fargodome is? The porcupine has 18,000 pricks on the OUTSIDE! :ROFLMAO:...duel...

I'm confused on how NDSU and all the other teams in the FCS are not Division 1. I know my reading comprehension might not be as great as most of you fine folks beings I only went to a lowly 2yr trade school but I am pretty sure FCS is labeled D1 it just isn't the "highest level"

How do you still get excited being an NDSU fan? I would be so bored if i was a fan...no competition. Doesnt competition make the game fun..where there is a chance they could win or lose? The way i look at it is right now NDSU losing a game is just a fluke...absolutly boring to watch.

Especially after a team/program that you beat multiple times in the FCS title game is now in the Final 12 teams in the playoffs! Sure, they're the sacrificial lamb, but they now have a shot!

They should do what euro soccer does. They have relegation..you are at the top you then move to the next division and have to perform. If you dont the next year you could be dropped back down. Makes a team have to fight and perform to move up or get axed to the lower division.

I used to go to 3-4 games a year. I barely make it to 1 anymore. It’s a stale product. Same teams, almost same intro, boring video showings during down time. Even though $35-$45 a ticket isn’t high, I can find better entertainment for that price. I don’t understand why when this trend started 4 to 6 years ago, things weren’t spiced up.
On another note. How do you get a UND grad off your porch? Pay him for the pizza. Same goes for a pucker fan, except don’t tip the pucker fan, he’ll spend it on animal porn.
