That's the question. Do you want a DI program in a conference that if you win you get a shot, or be the big Dogs of the FCS? I've always wondered why States like WY and Idaho can have DI programs but not the Dakotas?
Without hesitation or doubt, big dogs of the FCS. Why would anyone trade an honest shot at a championship trophy every year for an honest shot at getting beat by 40 on national television once? That is what is going to happen to the Dukes at Oregon. Wyoming and Idaho have FBS programs because they are closer to other FBS programs making travel tolerable budget wise. Last year the rumor was NDSU to the Mountain West Conference. I wonder what it costs to fly 58 kids and equipment from Fargo to Hawaii for a conference game?
NDSU has a great thing going. Seven men's sports, seven women's sports. None horrible, most competitive. Leave that alone. We don't want them to end up like UND wrestlers or UND women's hockey players and budget cuts. But hey...they have that BIG TIME hockey program right...?

All the big dogs of FCS have moved to FBS. It's beyond time to move but you need a conference invite to do so. Ideally you'd want the Dakota's and Montana's to get together to form a northern FBS conference at some point. P4 won't allow it at the moment.

You assume that the G6 will continue to get a spot in the playoffs. After this year the p4 may finally had enough and split off and do their own thing. NDSU would have to get into a top conference to get selected for the playoff too. The MWC and CUSA were not too good this year.

NDSU may have to add a womens team if they step up to the FBS. Also UND never had wrestling I believe
