Any of these posts that lean, even slightly, toward being a political topic, almost always end up being a slog of political banter. I agree that politics plays a part in a lot of things in our life, but the political back and forth on this site had gotten out of hand. It had gotten into almost every thread. Maybe I overextended in putting the "Feminism" thread into the politics section, but at that time, and moving forward, I would like to play it safe.

We have been seeing new people join the site, again, and some good outdoor discussions, and that has been nice to see.

The politics section is still there for those of you who like to partake in those conversations.

I think you nailed it. The only reason I'm still able to visit this site is because I haven't seen the political BS nearly as much lately. I nearly left for good a few months ago. This is an outdoors website. There are many other websites where we can debate politics if we want.

I understand wanting there to be some separation and not turn everything into a political pissing match but if you are a person who “isn’t political” and doesn’t want to pay attention ever, don’t be surprised when political theater takes away your ability to enjoy the outdoors down the road.
