I've seen a lot of city councils around the country on YouTube and X and 99% of the public comments are opposed. Then the council approves them. They have to be getting $ under the table somehow.

Us peons don't get the memos. It goes something like , if data center requests come across your desk , approve them . Our jobs and funding are at risk otherwise.

They’re all for show. Just like questioning Fauci for vaccines or the Hildabeast over Benghazi, the city councils are no different. They have their mind made up before they even have these meetings. Just a feel good measure to make the public think they had a say.

Have been seeing a lot of banners in the country side that state "Family farms over Data farms"

I guess I don't get it, are these data farms taking away a farmers farm? Or is it a fear of water usage, or they wont get the big tax breaks they get now?

Its mostly WOMEN and a few idiots up in arms about datacenters... There are places where they shouldnt go, and they do use some electricity, but really, its much fuss about nothing.

To me it's discouraging the way they barge into a community with no regards to resident concerns and the cover up or smooth it over used by local governments and businesses who want them.

It's that push that people don't like. By the time the public was informed at the Harwood site, it was already a done deal. I asked my boy if he thinks his electric rates will go up , he said they went up right before the center was introduced. Businesses and local governments who want them are smooth operators.

We'll see how you feel about them in several years when members of your family lose their jobs and when your utility bills skyrocket to offset their operating costs.
