So I need to buy a set of waders and I found some online that I am considering but I don't know about the shoe size. If I wear a size 12 shoe would I expect to buy a size 12 wader or should I get one size bigger? I would go try some on but I hate going to Scheels on the weekend and my nights are full...

I normally wear a size 10.5 and I think I got 11's just in case I put on a heavier sock.

My last couple pair have been about right on, with my shoe size. I wear a size 12 shoe, and my waders are 12's, and I wear a thin poly sock inside of a thicker wool blend sock. Takes a long time to get cold (never get cold this time of the year) and they're fine for walking around in.

My NEXT pair will be stocking foot, with wading shoes. Can't even tell you're wearing them.

Buy a dog, eff the waders...haha

I have a set from 1988, they have hung in my basement for 14 years now without moving, I wonder if they would still keep water out? Do waders get old? They have been hung so as to not sit on the ground.

The old rubber ones do. I believe the neoprene waders last for longer.

Huh, never thought of that. I naturally think everybody wearing waders is going fishing. Dogs won't go get walleyes, unless I'm doing something wrong.

The old rubber ones will definitely dry rot. Neoprene can last a few years. Hang them up, upside down to keep from stretching out the suspenders.. Keeps critters out of them too, and keeps them from getting cracks where they would be folded.

with this type of cheap wire hanger you screw to the wall my 15 year old neoprenes are still in tip-top condition (the photo is a googled example - not my photo)

but the waders shrunk - they are tight now. ;)

neoprenes are hell in hot weather - dangerous in fact

I wear a size 13 regularly...I purchased neoprene Scheels brand waders and the boot seems a little big, im sure I could go down to a 12 and it be perfect. The worst part about them being to big is my feet always slip around and it tough to pull my foot out of the mud and muck will hunting in water. I would def try a pair of with the socks you plan on wearing with them.

Just bite the bullet and go in to scheels on the weekend and try them on. It pays to have quality fitting gear versus being uncomfortable all day when the ducks aren't flying and fish aren't biting...

That wire rack thing in guy's photo is $14.99 at Scheels, and it's a double (holds two pairs). The single is less. Good investment. No fun finding a pile of dead bugs in your boots (or some live ones).

Yes guy, mine seem to have shrunk around the waist too. I wonder if there's some sort of form or stretcher or something that I could put in them... What would they call that? A diet? ;)

After duck hunting for over 40 years, I would recommend going with the stocking foot neoprene waders. Try a pair on and get a cheap pair of sneakers or light weight walking boots to go over them and you do not feel like your dragging 10 extra pounds around like with the booted waders. They last a long time with minimal care. They do get hot on warm days if you do a lot of walking.
