My girlfriend has a 4 year old yellow lab and we are looking for a new home for him. He bit our 11 month old girl last night. Nothing serious thank god but need to find him a new home asap. If you know of anyone looking please let me know. This dog cannot be around children.

I I can't convince her to let me take him to be put down so I'm just trying to get him out of the house.

Thank I you for your help.

Oh. If it matters the dog hasn't been trained to hunt. Loves walks and to play fetch.

Ah seems to me, he is not used to your 11 month old child crawling around on all fours, he sees this baby as a pest to his territory, but he can be trained to be protective of this child by interaction with the dog and your child. Your dog is used to being king of his domain and is unsure who this little creature who has no boundaries. The dog has had it made with getting what he wants when he wants in the past. It is jealous of baby cuz your child is getting all the attention where he used to get. Your child is now scared of your dog and dogs can sense fear. It's an adjustment to have someone else on the floor going through his things. I say this because if he was really meant to hurt he would MAUL and he is only defending what is his. He can be trained to protect your child with patience. 4 years is a lot of time to be part of someones life.

And we totally understand that. It's why we are trying to find him a good home. I'm just not willing to bet my daughters safety on it. He has bit her twice. One time she got 9 stitches to the face and last night she could have lost an eye.

He really is a good a good dog with adults. Loves to play. Up to date on all shots. Just can't trust him around our baby.

In front.
Wow. Yes, there wouldn't be a 3rd time in this house either. If no one wants to take on the liability, and you need help with the put-down option, let me know.

Don't consider lunks advice. A gd biting dog isn't worth it.

Thans for the info and help gents. If you know of anyone looking for a dog please let me know. I think he would actually be able to be trained to hunt. He has some great natural instincts. I would like to see him live a good life and hope we don't have to go the put down option.

Daughter is ok. Almost lost an eye. got a tooth right on the upper eye lid. Needed a couple stitches but could have been so much worse. We are thankful. Not how we planned her first christmas.

My advice was given on his situation with dog and child BEFORE I knew about this dog drawing blood this an assumption that you dog was nipping not actually causing physical harm. no I think he needs to go. ;:;badidea

Making adult decisions sucks. Living with the cosequenses of having not made adult decisions is typically worse.

If that were my dog there would be no need to look for a new owner.

Sorry to hear In all my dogs I have never had this happen. However my dogs know who the alpha is. I can usually just with my tone of voice get my dog sitting and paying full attention to what I am requesting.
I also know I love my kids more than any damn dog, a little nip, or stealing a snack from them is one thing, an attack that causes harm is a deal breaker.
Be sure you let the person who takes him know he has harmed other people. Might be best to put him down.
Again sorry to hear, but don't take any chances.
