Being a retired Marine and combat vet I've got pretty thick skin, Ralph Peters is my hero even though he was in the Army. Ain't Ready for the Marines Yet.

Well atleast you can say that you don't cuss like a sailor Lmao

I would have the presets change to something funny. On another forum I saw one where ever it mentioned a specific person's name, it changed it to "he who shall not be named" or something like that. It was great. Like for instance, if you programmed it that so every time someone typed in the f-bomb and it came out "titty sprinkles" I would laugh my butt off every time.

Self censor. Problem solved.

When I find my head exploding and I need to cuss a bunch, I usually just refrain from posting. Sometimes post "no comment or I'm gonna cuss a whole bunch."

I don't think cussing in Internet memes counts because the chuckle is worth it and I can't edit memes.

I think alot of posts it is not needed. But there is other post like the hahas thread where half of the jokes involve the f-bomb. I am guilty for using it on more than one occasion.

I use the f word a lot in real life, except around my kids. Swearing around them is not acceptable. ages 5 an 7. Not saying it might have slipped a time or two. I had to tell a national guard guy to watch his mouth at mcdonalds one time, and respectfully he did. my .02

yes, that was uncalled for but i was just going trying to show swearing can be fun! when used correctly! f bomb isnt that fun tho... that one is kind of ahead scratcher, like.. wait did he just drop the eff bomb at a company meeting... that is an example of a not fun one its more like nails on a chalk board to me for in a lot of instances, but if you are out on the ice and you have a few cold bud lights in ya and you tie into a effing monster walleye! you just let that word fly in all its glory! cause you deserve it you pig catching SOB!

personally, I love swearing. I use swear words for sentence enhancement. I like to paint with words, and swear words just pop with some of the most vibrant colors. A well timed analogy seasoned with the right swear words will always command respect, even in a church. I also don't trust people who never swear, or swear with childish replacement words. Using "fudge" is the same thing with the same intent and meaning, but no one takes you seriously and your sentence loses all its credibility. But, just like everything, there is a place and time for swearing, and swearing has a lot of gray zones and blurred lines.

Now, as far as rules for the forum go, I'm open to whatever, but I'm aware that if swearing is "green lighted" by the boss it will most definitely be abused.

How bout the "C" bomb? that one is swung around like a fly swatter in Europe, but in America its offensive even in the worst dive bar at 2am.

I swear in real life a fair bit when I am around cuss-word accepting people. There are also people I don't swear around. Swearing doesn't offend me, but the need to type a bunch of F-bombs seems unnecessary. I rarely swear in type, but don't condemn the folks that do.

Pretty much my thought's on this matter. I have patients that I can shoot the shit with free from vocabulary restrictions. I have others that would still try to wash my mouth out or tell my mother. I was in the Navy. I've heard some very colorful swearing that came out so elegantly, it sounded like a rehearsed speech.

In situations like that my ol man used to say "hey watch your language I have my mom's picture in my pocket." Just the kind of old folks humor that I don't think would even register these days. Now it would probably be answered with "dude, what the f you talking about."
