I like to think of vocabulary vulgarities as finely aged Scotch: savoring small amounts is just the right touch for livening up conversation; however, too much can leave you with a black eye and a penis drawn in Sharpie on your face.

Everything in moderation...

I'd like to know as well. Does the rep system actually work?

Seems to me the negative rep has put the kibosh on some troublemakers.

I like the idea of policing this stuff ourselves. As soon as you try to "protect" people from a word(s), all you're really doing is taking free speech rights away from the majority. (34 to 31 as of this post. Close, but still a majority)

Ignore or give negative rep to those that offend you if you feel it necessary.

Has anyone actually been weeded yet V?

I just checked my points and I have more than I know what to do with. Not a lot of swearing in my posts but I'm that bonehead that won't surrender an opinion unless it's wrong so I have pisd off almost everyone here , twice . I'm still good to go :)

I am on several other forums and another as a mod and there are some settings that automatically ***** out preset words that are detected when one posts.

In classic fashion someone zinged me with negative rep for my post above.:;:howdy

In front.
I just voted and now there is a pretty even split between "let it go" and "negate it" which tells me that there are enough people that don't especially like it and speaking as one of those people, I can look past some but if every post was riddled with it, I would just quit looking. That doesn't mean I don't chuckle at some of the phrases you characters put together. If everyone could self-moderate themselves, I think we would be fine as I haven't seen anything excessive yet but I don't read every thread either so maybe I don't see it all. Just M2C.

enough people that don't especially like it, so do what??

'majority rules' is the law of the land

someone negative rep me too for not swearing, so poo poo on you whoever you are you mother of all titty sprinkles :;:huh FYI, it doesn't bother me when others do, I just try not to is all. I do agree that it is nice to have the option to cuss a little bit if one feels it is needed without getting in trouble. I just try to keep in mind that there are kids that look at this site too, and these kids have certainly seen some girls in bikinis which I feel is a healthy thing.

I say we let it go. I've said it since day one, NDA is like a bar. When you go into a bar you meet all kinds of people. Some swear more than others

A $hit or #uck here or there is no big deal and it often makes a joke funnier or puts an exclamation on a point. Yeah, some people use these words more than others, but it defines them, and let's us know what kind of a character is hiding behind the avatar.

Joining NDA is like immigrating to another country. If you are offended by how we act on NDA go fuck yourelf and find a different country to hang out in.

How much does context come in to play here? What about dickhead? Is dickhead ok as long as I'm not referring to another member? Or is that ok too? Is it ok to say lunkerslayer is a ass kisser or is that frowned upon;)? How about douchebag or the hipster version douchenozzle? Queerbait? What if someone was talking about dinner and said they had a drink made from cumquat and then had cream pie for dessert. Ya see people could take this stuff the wrong way. A member could say on vacation they went to Ohio and had to take a Cleveland Steamer up the Cuyahoga River. Or a member might love his dog's bitchface. With all the possibilities V might have to put someone on the payroll so maybe best to leave things alone.
