Is your wife a hardcore hunter outdoorswoman or is she just doing it because you do it? Does she have expectations on size of deer she is going to want to shoot? Are you planning on camping in the unit or staying in dickinson, belfield, medora? I am only asking because I know my wife and if i made her hunt like i do and some on here are suggesting, she would never go hunting again especially if its 0 degrees blowing 20mph and a foot of snow on the ground.
The nice part about 4C is if you are not in it to shoot a giant you can shoot a 130-150" 4x4 almost any day during the rut just by putting easy miles on either hiking old 2 track trails that are shutdown or just point hopping glassing and driving around. Everybody is different but i wouldn't stress over the hunt it will make it that much less enjoyable. Things have a way of working out when you least expect it out there. Try to make the hunt about her and not the deer. Since this is her first big game hunt i don't think i would take her up devils peak and back down twice a day, but if she enjoys that kind of you can put on limitless miles and see plenty of deer. Put some miles on the truck early in the day and later in the evening, until you find a place that has good deer movement/numbers or buck/bucks you are interested in chasing. If you can only hunt 1 weekend the 14th-17th would be my suggestion.
