    Ice fishing devils lake

Have never ice fished devils lake and am hoping to get there sometime this winter. I am wondering where I could get into some pike (we plan on keeping them) and walleye or perch while we are waiting for flags. I am hoping to walk out. Not looking for someone's honey hole unless you want to share...

My Boy is Ready for Tip Up Season

Very cool! I also took advantage of 1/2 off tip ups. Picked up a couple just like that from Home of Economy.

    Eating Pigeon

They taste very good. Just about like a dove. I just take the breast off and fry it in butter with some salt and pepper. Make sure you know what they've been eating though. The ones out in the country are mainly eating grain, corn, and other crops. Ones in town eat anything lol

If you could only have one fishing lure.........

If you could only have one fishing lure, what would it be? For me, It would be a 1/4 oz jig and a 3 inch twistertail. This would have me covered for pretty much everything that swims. Would love to hear what you guys think.

How thick do you like the ice to be before you start walking out and fishing?

I am pretty new to ice fishing (last season was my first) and I was wondering how much ice is enough to start walking out and fishing safely.

Is the .243 to small for deer?

I would get the 7.62x51. Shoots flatter. I know it costs more for plinking or "fun" ammo, but it should work better for deer at longer ranges.

    3" shells for Pheasant

I have some good ole' goose loads from the 1980s that are 3 inch 1 7/8 oz loads of BB, 2, or 4 shot. I imagine these would do a good job on pheasants at long distance with a full choke.

    Pike tip up baits

I like to use smelt, and have had good luck doing so, but I have heard of other people using hot dogs and other things. Just wanted to know what you have luck with.

What happened to the 16ga shotgun?

    http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=207673 http://www.rockislandauction.com/viewitem/aid/65/lid/3318 - - - Updated - - - My winchester m1897 does this and I'm pretty sure my Ithaca 16 gauge does too, but I've never tried it.

What happened to the 16ga shotgun?

I own an Ithaca Model 37m Featherlight in 16 gauge. It is a nice light gun that points very well. The only downfall that the 16 gauge has was that a 3" cartridge was never made widely available for it. With the switch to steel shot for waterfowl, 16 gauge users found that they wanted more...

    Ice Fishing the Red River

Heard about people ice fishing the river. I am in the drayton area. Anyone know of any safe areas with access to ice fish when the time comes? Would there be anything to catch in addition to walleyes? What bait or lures would be best? Thank you.
