Thanks for sharing. Another good hunt, toughest I've been on for sure. I realized when I got home my 'beer gut' was gone. If nothing else, gear was tested to the max. I now truly appreciate the benefits of trekking poles; no doubt they prevented a few broken bones.
Ya the elevation in Idaho doesn't kill you, it's the rough terrain. Got a new rifle, pack, sleeping bag and tent. Weighed everything including water and food for two night spike trips. Looks like I'm around 35 pounds.
I HATE packing out meat/elk/whatever. Hopefully Kurt's in good shape. I know he is. I've packed out a big bull including cape and antlers in two trips with two guys and that sucked balls. I know you're in good shape but more lighter trips is the way to go. I've been deep into Wyoming and...
How's it going? I don't get on here much anymore. Would like your advice on a rifle. Mountain rifle for elk. I've talked to you about the Kimber Montana before. Looking at 308 because of rifle weight and bullet options. Considering the Mountain Accent at about 1800, Montana at 1100, and the...
SD's no trespass laws would have probably prevented some of the recent protest cases from being dismissed...
That should get the ball rolling.
Wife just drew an any elk tag, that's pretty cool. She's had a prior cow tag. I've had 5 tags including two cows, since being down here. Big game license...
I've got the same barrel but synthetic stock. Ramshot Hunter 56.5gr. and 130gr. TTSX is the best I've put together for the rifle. Of course I tend to work a little harder to find something that works with the TTSX because I'm a pretty firm believer in the bullet on big game.
Kurt, you gotta get in shape to carry that rifle you built in the elk mountains. Me, I'm gonna cut some weight by getting the Kimber. Everything else is ready to rock.
I've loaded the TTSX 110gr in .270, I did not get the accuracy that I've gotten with the 130gr TTSX. I load it in front of Ramshot Hunter. This is the most accurate combo I've gotten out of my .270 and the penetration and the way the TTSX holds together is impressive to say the least.
Verb, adjective, noun? Take that to the English teacher.
Funny what a guy can have in his own backyard and not even be aware.
Where'd you get the tracks for the Jeep?
Clean them on the ice, slime problem solved. SD now made this legal. I tend to like to be legal. Or just fillet them and pickle them, bones don't matter.
I just bought a 16' Honda Rubicon today. My daughter drove it home from Honda. I backed it out of the garage when I got home tonight. So far so good. It will get tested ice fishing the next couple of weeks but I bought it for elk hunting. With the locking differential and suspension I doubt...
