    Thin ice!

The driving on early ice thing doesn't surprise me at all. 10" average will hold a half ton without issue, the problem is ice consistency. The snow has made a nice little blanket and it doesn't take much to effect the ice. What blows my mind is the guys that come out, drill one hole and strike...

    Ice Augers

Humminbird Ice Helix 5 Sonar GPS Combo

Honda with 8" k drill. I also have the 10" laser it came with, but extensions are interchangeable between the two flighting. It works awesome! I can now overlap holes to cut large areas out. Plus the auger starts on the first pull in negative temps.

    Ice Augers

I picked up a k drill this year and a Honda 4 stroke. That thing cuts amazing and like said, you can overlap holes all day if you want. If it's good clean ice, you can still run the laser blades. The Hondas start on the first pull....way better than the Jiffy. It's quieter and there are very...

Humminbird Ice Helix 5 Sonar GPS Combo

Yeah been trying that. Believe me I want this graph to be my go to, but even on graph mode the lag is too much. It's no different than on flasher. Plus target separation is between 1 and 2 inches versus less than an inch for the vex. I'm basically OCD though and little things like that...

Humminbird Ice Helix 5 Sonar GPS Combo

After a lot of thought I bought one prior to this year as well. Nice for contours etc. Flasher mode doesn't make me happy at all. My vex is still #1. This is now a backup. Target separation and lag between rod tip jigging versus screen is too much for me to handle. I keep wanting a graph...

Question for my fellow Busch light drinkers

I've put down many 30 packs of Busch in my day....never ran across an empty one posing to be full. I can see that being kinda funny when unloading a 30 pack into the fridge, but if it was the last one you reach for in the case while jigging for your favorite catch, it would be quite...

    Office Etiquette?

Men's small???, I didn't have you pegged for that.... - - - Updated - - - I'm glad I'm not the only one that shits his drawers in the office. Everyone around me always makes a big deal of it, but to me it's just natural. I like it....well, mine anyway.

    New Fishing Regs. Proposal

So who's the wimps out there that give negative rep points for someone stating their beliefs like above? Give me a thumb down if u don't like it, why the heck would you knock my rep points? Dumb

    New Fishing Regs. Proposal

80/20 rule. I would guess 80% of fishermen eat their fish annually. There are just a lot of folks that ice fish only and stock up for the year. Remember, as soon as we make fishing more of a sport than tablefare, we open the doors to more scrutiny from activists. Another thought, as many...

    New Fishing Regs. Proposal

Fyi, possession and freezer limits are different. Possession limits apply more to aut of state hunters or people traveling to fish. There is no limit on freezer possession.

    Favorite Ice Fishing rods/reels

In my jigging case I have two TB rods. One 32" walleye SW and one 28" perch SW with spring tip. I have a 13 rod that I can't remember the name of, but it's a 28" M rod. Very good rod for the money. I also have an old 28" elite tech that I can't retire to a still rod yet. In the bobber rod...

    Love Ice Fishing or Meh?

Insure it and if something happens you're covered. On your line of thought with modern tech, with all the tracked vehicles and quads now, you can get them off the lake. If you're worried about melt due to upcoming temps, you just pull it off.

    New FNG

I was on Sak one day and had a bad one brewing. I dumped our fish out of the bucket and went in front of the truck and did my business. I dumped it in w half dug hole, rinsed the bucket and threw the fish back in. That was when I learned that was the single easiest way to get all the fish at...

    Winter Vacations

Turks or Roatan. Turks beaches are slightly better. Roatan is less of a tourist trap, is beautiful and pretty affordable. - - - Updated - - - Oh yeah and they make a drink called a Monkeylala that is amazing!!!

    Ice fishing by December?

Over the long weekend I'll be going for sure. By the 1st of Dec we'll have fish houses on Audobon. Unless some unforeseen heat wave hits after the weekend, that is my prediction. Generally I take the fish houses out with the wheeler Thanksgiving weekend. It's possible, but doubtful this...

    Need your Vexilar knowledge

I own an 18 and a 28. They're both great. Like others have said, the bottom zoom is key. Any upgrade from a 18 is really just bells and whistles. Sure the newer ones have low power weed modes which are nice at times, but you can't go wrong with an 18, especially for that price.

    Bass Pro bought cabelas ???

Since I moved from Bis to Minot over 5 years ago, 90+% of my hunting and fishing gear is bought online now too. Sucks....I miss Dakota Tackle and Runnings. I only shop at scheels when they're having sales, and usually I can still find the stuff online cheaper.
