    Bass Pro bought cabelas ???

I like Cabelas a lot, so I'm disappointed. I disagree that they are expensive....just don't buy unless it's on sale. I get a lot of free gear from Cabelas points. I've also really been getting into their performance gear lately. Their guide wear goes on sale quite often, and I would compare...

    Home security system

Unless things are changing, the local companies charge for all the equipment up front. Then you have to pay for replacements when they are outdated. That's what kept me from going that direction. Technology outdates quick, and I don't want to put a grand down every 3 years to update equipment.

    Home security system

Yeah we decided to go with Vivent. So far I'm pleased with the system. We have remote capability to all cameras as well as the thermostat. We actually are receiving a 10% discount on our insurance now which pays for about 6 months service, so not too bad really. Plus it's a good piece of...

    Muck Boots

I bought the Baffin....not sure of the name but their warmest boot. Wore them on Winnipeg and never had cold toes. Their light too which is dang nice. Only for cold times tho. Too warm for the 20 deg days.

    Large flat screen TV advice

I'm a Samsung fan. If you could suffer it out, I think the 65" 4K will be under 2k$ in a month. From thanksgiving till early Jan is the best deals on electronics. Check Amazon as well for the 2014 version. They should get super cheap here soon but limited quantities obviously. 8550 is the...

Sweating like a whore in church

The biggest thing most are guilty of is not exercising their dogs till the week before opener, and then expecting to run them all day. My old man does the same thing and it pisses me off. For or those that don't think a dog can hunt above 65, nobody would hunt in Kansas, OK, NC etc if that...

    3" shells for Pheasant

You're of course welcome to aim however you feel comfortable, but I shot competitive sporting clays for years and most who have don't aim like your saying. Like I said though, do what works for ya. Generally I just use a high velocity 5 shot 2.75 inch. 3 inch no doubt has a little more...

    Slush in a fishing hole

I'm not necessarily ready for winter, but I'm always excited for ice season. Last season was for sure one of the most challenging years I've remember for catch rates. The bite over the next month or so should pretty much tell the tale of how the ice bite will be. I'm almost always fishing...

    Women ideas!!!

Some of these stories sound incredibly familiar. My wife doesn't come up with too many dumb ideas, but she certainly keeps an internal score card that forgets all the things I do. I don't get credit for mowing, snow blowing etc because I enjoy it.... I don't get credit for doing the bulk of...

    OPEC wins

A lot of the smaller companies are in bad shape. If the prices stay down for another year, some will fold. It's not pretty. - - - Updated - - - The global economy won't be able to handle a long time period of this. So we both know what that means. - - - Updated - - - Not enough return...

    Vexilar Proview vs. TriBeam???

That is the claim, but it just isn't true. If your in 7 fow and want to widen your cone, you crank the gain and all you see is clutter. The only option then is to go to the low power mode and you can widen it that way, but then you are running over half gain just to see you bait at times...

    Vexilar Proview vs. TriBeam???

I've worked around ultrasonics for over a decade, and how he explains the proview makes absolutely no sense, nor does it operate how he explains it IMO. I've used the proview for two seasons now, and I'm not sold. If your fishing 10-20 foot of water, it performs fine. If your shallower or...

Things I Dont Need But Want

A new Honda pioneer 1000 with full cab and tracks. A 21 foot boat with a 350. A lake cabin so I don't have to drag a camper around anymore. A sno bear. A 16 foot aluminum bare boat (really light) with a four stroke. A skid steer. A maid. Meh, that's it for now.

    Advice on Brittany Pups

Yep, I have no intent on getting the pup into it too hard, but I would take it along and let her make some short runs with the understanding it's a puppy and will most likely run over the first few birds it comes across. In my experience, it's all about letting them see birds and understanding...
