    Migration

Problem is when it's this slow to cool down the migration gets spread out a bunch and the "big push" doesn't exactly happen. Yeah, there'll be a push once it does get cold but not quite like it would if Canada were to freeze up on Nov. 1. What can ya do...

    After the hunt!

Probably. I messed around with a few different brands when my lab was young and just couldn't find one that worked very well. Certainly my inexperience played a factor. Either didn't fit right or didn't stand up to use, then when the belly got rubbed raw I gave up. Seems like most of those...

    After the hunt!

Yep I'd be careful with vests on labs. I used the skid plate on mine and it rubbed his belly bare several years ago - haven't used one since other than on cold waterfowl hunts (neoprene vest) and have had no issues. Have seen other labs rubbed raw in the arms & legs by vests; just don't think...

    Migration

Only nice thing about it is not having the major migration happening around deer opener when many landowners won't let you on. Just hope it doesn't go from this to 10 degrees within a couple days like it has the last couple years.

    Migration

Looks like it will be a late and probably quick migration again. Highs in the low 60s all week and southern Sask is just as warm.

    Pheasant Opener

Couldn't have asked for much better weather for opener. Barely snowed where we were SE of Bismarck and was overcast and in the 30's all morning with a 5-10 mph wind and the birds cooperated. Today, tough going with that wind. The young birds we shot were pretty well colored out. Only had 1...

1981 acres by Watford city auctioned off

Sounds like it's going to be chopped up with a bunch of houses put on it. I know nothing of the land, but that's kinda disappointing. http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/north-dakota/4125274-historic-ranch-nd-badlands-fetches-more-33-million

Wet opener---who is taking the rain on?

Quite a few dried up sloughs in central ND - I think that will make the remaining ones pretty hotly contested once the NR crowd is out. Insane amounts of soybeans as well.

    Fargo DU Banquet: Anyone going?

Surprised there hasn't been more discussion about "what if m.5 would have passed?" with the oil slowdown... That said, I'm still for something like it if it would be well planned out. The Heritage fund has already done good things with limited resources (e.g. 20,000 acres of PLOTS in badlands)...

    Egress Window

I'd like to have an egress window put into my basement - just curious if anyone in the Bismarck area would recommend someone to do it. Cut the concrete, install the window etc. What can a guy expect to pay? I know it's possible to do yourself but I think I'd like to hire this one out. Thanks!

That big chunk of plots land in the badlands

Hopefully it works out. A couple instances of carcasses being left by a road, trespassing on neighbors land, driving off trail, vandalism, and who knows. Always amazes me how much people litter. Hopefully the game wardens in that area make their presence felt this fall.

The Problem Facing ND Waterfowl Hunting

Always an interesting topic. I started waterfowl hunting when I was 13, so I guess that was 1996. Obviously lucked out in that the 90s were very wet and CRP was prominent and land posting was low as was hunting pressure. My dad didn't really hunt but I was interested and had friends from...
