If the winter doesnt kill the deer the coyotes will

Kind of an interesting documentary on PBS right now about coyotes and wolves...carry on.

    Puppie preferences

I'm certainly no dog expert but I personally don't know of any hunting dogs with dew claws, but most of my experience is with labs. Friend of mine didn't do it on his wirehair pup and one got torn/infected on his first season and had to get operated on, cost him a couple months of hunting...

    Trespass Bill

I understand all of the pros and cons that have been mentioned throughout this thread. As a hunter with no family land or any land that is exclusively mine to hunt, it would hurt to unposted land be automatically posted. While it seems as though 80-90% of land in most (not all) areas I visit...

    Trespass Bill

http://www.grandforksherald.com/outdoors/4189679-north-dakota-likely-will-see-trespass-bill-when-legislative-session-begins Seems this comes up every couple of legislative sessions. Got to wonder why someone thinks this would have helped with the protest?

The Problem Facing ND Waterfowl Hunting

Without putting words in his mouth, I'll chime in here. I think what he's getting at are the high limits (certainly social media, etc has played a role as well) has led to a culture of needing to have the biggest bird pile at the end of the day. People see the big shoots on tv, online, etc and...

    Rebluing Shotgun

Have an older 870 20 gauge that I inherited and haven't used in a few years. Dumb on my part but it developed some rust on the barrel. Is there anyone in the Bisman area that does rebluing?

The Problem Facing ND Waterfowl Hunting

Similar experience as you. The PPR was quite a bit dryer than recent history. Had to scout quite a bit to find a couple decent spots for opener - got beat to the first one but the backup was a good transition slough and had one of our best opener hunts ever. Once NR opener passed I really...

Yes, just catch and release. Not sure if there's much left in there by this time of year...

    Christmas Blizzard

Ahhh the spring of '97 and the Red River flood, was only in junior high but definitely a time I will not forget. Was sandbagging for hours a day for many days leading up to it and was actually working on one of the sandbag dikes when it failed in EGF, luckily was only a few blocks from home...

Kvaloch Parents Suing Coach, School, Insurance

As a coach/teacher this story did hit a nerve when I saw it the other day. What's next, suing the school & coach when a kid dies on the way to a practice on an icy day? I certainly feel for these parents, not only the fact of losing their sons but that they haven't gotten many answers about it...

College players staying out of FBS Bowl Games

I don't have much of a problem with it...if they were in the final 4 I would but not one of these meaningless bowl games. Especially running backs, their window is generally pretty short to make money. Not to mention how much money they've already made for their schools...Let their backup get...

    F150 one year review.

I'm kind of in the market for a new truck (first time)...did you guys buy in ND or did you find better deals elsewhere?

    Bison 6-pack

Big Sky probably doesn't have the depth of the Valley but we'll see how Eastern Washington does. Gotta remember NDSU lost to Montana last year and were mighty fortunate to beat EWU this year so it's not like you can say the Big Sky is so bad. Yes, the Mountain West still exists - you Bison...

Leasing Land to Hunt- Is it becoming the new normal?

And yet we see 20 year olds that have hardly had a job running around with those types of spreads...lol - - - Updated - - - I am surprised we haven't seen more out of staters lease/buy land in ND. I know there are some and probably a lot more that I don't know about. I really have to wonder...

Leasing Land to Hunt- Is it becoming the new normal?

Definitely getting to be more prevalent and dare I say necessary as the rate of getting on posted land to bird hunt seems to drop every year. I'm about 0 for 10 in asking on waterfowl spots this year, even got shot down on an unposted field that I asked on because I knew it was always posted in...

    next storm commin...

I'd say about 4" in Bismarck as of 7 AM Monday. Heavy wet stuff. Looks like we had about a half inch of rain before that too.

The ice can't come soon enough

I put on quite a few miles over a good portion of the state the last few days and anything that holds fish doesn't have a bit of ice on it that I saw. This snow shouldn't cause many problems in that regard.

    North Dakota College football

I also grew up in GF and went to UND and have been to countless games - grandparents had season tickets to hockey, football, and basketball and I was a sports nut as a kid so I tagged along since about the time I was potty trained. Was just talking to a buddy the other day - remember when we...

    ND Outfitter Deer Tags

Why would anyone do it if they weren't making money off of it? Go through all that work just to see the smile on a stranger's face when they shoot a deer when you could be letting friends and family do it, both at no profit? Doubt it
