    Snowflake's First Day At Work

It might very well be satire, but unfortunately it's not very far from how some college graduates think these days. We don't see as much of it in the midwest but spend some time on the east or west coast and you will hear comments very similar.

    This looks kinda fun

Thanks to those who were ambitious enough to look up the rules. Now it definitely looks like fun. Made me wonder when he mentioned that he couldn't spear the smallie.

    This looks kinda fun

I agree with the looks like fun caption. Am to lazy to look up the regs but have to ask; "Are the rules for spearing different in summer as opposed to hard water?" Aren't walleyes a no-no speared in the winter? If legal in the summer then yes, that would be fun. If illegal then you might want to...

    Drilling halted at Van Hook

thanks for the info. sometimes pays to ask and listen before criticizing. I am back to wondering, "Why shut it down now when it seems like it's nearly completed?" Don't bother, I have a pretty good idea to the answer to that question.

    Drilling halted at Van Hook

I know little about this well site other than the occasional comment on here and once in awhile an article in the paper. That being said, I find it interesting that 7 or so wells have been dug out of the 8 planned and now it's a problem. Makes me wonder how a permit was ever granted in the...

    Calmest summer I can remember

People who can remember the weather from previous years always amaze me. Remember the winter of 1993? Hell, I can hardly remember what the weather was like last week. Have never figured out a way to remember weather from previous years. Then again, maybe they're talking BS and I don't have any...

Have you already forgotten April, May,, and June?

    Early Goose 2017

For some reason I just don't get excited about swatting mosquitos and hunting in t-shirts and shorts. Have nothing against those of you who do, just not for me.

    Deer tag system changes

I have shot a lot of deer in my 60+ years. If I don't get a tag in my preferred unit I can live with that. One thing that concerns me is the limited chances for young hunters. Young people who don't get a chance to hunt will eventually lose interest I'm afraid. I guess if that's true in years to...

    Mule Deer Hunt Planning

Can't argue with you on your points. Main point being pack out as opposed to dragging. Once boned out a deer that was no more than 1/4 mile from a trail that I could have driven my pickup to that point. Drag would have been up a very steep hill and decided carrying was easier than dragging.

    Mule Deer Hunt Planning

When I hunt mule deer the country is pretty rough. Tried a game cart and decided right then I'll never do that again. Liked game carts for antelope where it's flatter and mostly grass, not for the breaks and very steep hills. Bone out and back pack, carry out only what is edible (as in no bones)...

    Tips and tricks section!

I hate electrical problems, mostly because I have no idea what I'm doing to try and fix them. If I do find and fix the problem it's mostly dumb luck.

    Impeller questions

Good explanation. Pay attention to #2. Not having it in gear makes putting it back together a real PITA. Other than that it's pretty straight forward. The advantage of changing frequently is that they are relatively inexpensive and it can be done when the water is hard if you have a place to...

    Best fishing/boating shoes.

I also like Crocs. Light, comfortable, pretty good support, get wet, they dry. Usually less than $30 and easy to wash off if you get them dirty. Not fancy, but I like them.

    Courtesy question??

Courtesy is the best bet but when meeting another boat the same rules that apply to vehicles on a road apply to boats on the water. Just saw a news story about this this morning. Had a news story from G&F was about boat traffic, life jackets, how far to stay away (100ft), etc. 100ft is not...

    25th Annual Prairie Dog EXtravaganza

No matter how you slice it, that's a lot of Prairie Dogs and sounds like a fun day. Not familiar to the area but "branding iron" sounds like a waterhole. Can't imagine a day like that without stopping for at least 1. Wait a minute, it it's only going to be 1, make it a pitcher.

    electrical help...

Good to know that wire can't be too heavy. I'd also like to add the bad things happen when you don't know what you're doing. Sometimes professional help is worth the money. Not long ago I remodeled a kitchen and removed the wall oven. Didn't pay any attention to what they did with the old oven...

    Hunters Safety

G&F just announced a Hunter Safety Class in Velva, Didn't check the dates but it's fairly close to Minot.

    electrical help...

Not an electrician but another consideration is the gauge of the wire leading to the 220 outlet. guessing it's either 10 or 12. pretty heavy for kitchen outlets especially if you're going to use a 20 amp breaker for a 110 line. if it were me I would be calling an electrician.

    Turtle Mountains help needed

Hooker Lake has primitive camping, no facilities. Dion Lake is nice but also the site of the occasional party that will keep you and your son up quite late. Shepherd's Hill is nice, no fishing right there but there is swimming and within a couple miles of Upsilon and Hooker. Shepherds' Hill is a...
