    Legislation I can support

You fit my argument perfectly. If the local taxpayers say no I have no problem. I don't like someone from the SE part of ND telling the taxpayers in the NW what is best for them. I prefer the legislature stay out of local issues.

Gander Mountain prepares to file bankruptcy

I guess it's unfortunate for the employees but I can't honestly say it will affect me at all. Seems to be plenty of sporting goods stores to supply whatever I need. Don't know what their problem was but I was never in a Gander Mt. store that impressed me enough that I was in a hurry to go back.

    Legislation I can support

I oppose this bill. For me it's just another case of the legislature thinking they know better than the local elected officials as well as the local taxpayer. Having been involved in a few bond issues I can assure you that the reasons this lady used to justify her introduction of this bill never...

    2016 Income Tax Talk

I'm not fond of paying taxes but at least I don't have to borrow to pay what I owe. The one thing that really pisses me off is the earned income credit, (welfare for not working.) I would have no problem returning everything a low-income taxpayer paid in. Receiving more than was paid rumples my...

    Dumpin the Dip!!

I was one who thought if it were OK I would start again. Now I'm pretty sure I wouldn't. I'm pretty much over any craving and the benefits for me far outweigh any small enjoyment I would now get that I no longer have the desire. It's just not a habit that I would see any benefit. Takes awhile...

    Dumpin the Dip!!

I'm not saying I wouldn't like the taste of a chew after over a year without. For me the physical need is gone so I don't think about it hardly ever. Because I know how easy it is to start again I just refuse to give in and realize the thought that "one little chew" isn't going to hurt is a...

Superbowl would be so much fun if it was Saturday

For just about the entire NFL season, games are played on Sunday. Don't switch for the Super Bowl. I would not object to an earlier start but I'm guessing primetime viewing drives that decision, especially at the price of advertising during the game.

    stuperbowl commercials...

For the most part I didn't think most of the commercials were anything special. I do have to wonder why businesses spend so much money on a SUPER BOWL AD and at the end I'm not sure what was trying to be sold. I did have a different opinion on the Anheuser-Busch ad. I looked at it as an ad...

Trespass Bill Part 3 - Solution Thread

For the vast majority of hunters we do have education. Hunter ethics and landowner responsibility is a pretty big emphasis in Hunter Education. I have hunted a long time in ND, 50+ years. This issue has been around forever. There has to be a way to enforce our current laws without being so...

    So Who's Gonna Get Wet?

I'll be honest right up front. I'm with the others when I read the subject, my wife came immediately to mind. Wishful thinking.

    Dumpin the Dip!!

No one who has quit will ever say it's easy. It's not, it's very difficult. No matter the method it does come down to wanting to quit and doing what is necessary to achieve that goal. The first time I went to an alternative chew. Got to the point where that began to taste more like diesel fuel...

    Dumpin the Dip!!

Quit a year ago on Jan. 1. Second time quitting for me. Just got to the point where I knew it was doing harm to my body. Quit cold turkey. Not sure it's the best for everyone but I just got stubborn and every time I felt the need for a chew I refused to give in. Maybe being stubborn isn't all...

    Youth shotgun

Don't have a recommendation on brand or model of gun. Do have a thought on 20ga vs 12ga. Can't argue that a serious trapshooter will want to shoot the 12ga. On the other hand, for a beginner the handling of a 20ga would seem to be a benefit. For me, I own both a 20ga and a 12ga. Use the 12ga...

What are your thoughts on this?

No one answer fits all fishermen. In the summer I might fish an average of 10 times. Usually depends on when grandchildren are around to fish. Compare that to someone who fishes virtually every day or at least 2-3 times per week. Keeping my limit every time (and I don't catch a limit every time)...

    Other hobbies/interests

Golf, spending time with grandkids and watching them play all kinds of sports. Time with grandkids would include fishing, hunting, and golfing with them. Do a little woodworking as well. My main problem is that I don't have any hobbies that don't cost money. I guess it's not really a problem...

Therein likes the problem. I've never looked at or priced the Talon. Now that I know, that is a serious anchor system.

    Question about gun safes?

I'm thinking about finally getting a gun safe. I'd like to store the safe in my garage. My problem is I don't heat my garage and I know I will have a significant amount of changes in temperature over the course of a year. That either will or at least may cause condensation. Do the dehumidifiers...

I didn't add up the cost of all the parts but a quick glance I was wondering where "on the cheap" came into play.

    Culture of Mediocrity

I also see this where someone sees the need to "compete at a higher level." Couple of things I have always questioned is "At what age does that become appropriate and is it appropriate for all athletes." Never figured out the perfect answer and not sure if there is one. One negative is the...

will Using mechanized vehicles for coyote hunting become legal?

Good tool for killing coyotes but I don't see this passing. Goes against every ideal with fair chase that all sportsman should believe in.
