    Personal Fishing Goals

I would like to catch the Minnesota state record Musky. It has been done a few times in the past several years but the fish has always been released. If I knew it was a record musky for sure I would probably keep it. (54 pounds)

Could A Muskie Eat a Poodle?

It would have to be a toy poodle or that size, and I suppose it could be possible, but I highly doubt it. You do hear quite a bit about muskies eating birds, however. In fact a guide on Detroit Lakes named Jerry Sondag filmed a TV show with Larry Dahlberg and was talking about a coot/muskie...

Are u a fair weather fishermen?

If we're on a fishing trip the only thing that stops us is lightning. I think the toughest conditions to fish are the ones in late November when your reel and guides freeze up.

I love that add too, but I'm not sure what the true range is on those remotes. I've been swimming in the middle of the lake before with my iPilot remote in the water with me and it didn't seem like the range was real good. My buddy had a Genesis (similar) that gave him lots of fits, but it's...

    Minnow prices

For sure! I would imagine you must catch a lot of goldeye for use as well Captainbrad? In the fall when we fish suckers for musky we were paying $11 each, but they're 16-20 inch fish. - - - Updated - - - For walleye fishing in the spring we catch all our own shiners which is nice. Not only...

    What's in your garden?

My favorite thing out of the garden besides tomatoes for BLT's is the yellow zucchini (or it might me a squash). I slice it into medallions and bread it and cook it exactly like pan fried walleye.

Deep Fried or Pan fry Walleye........

Dipped in egg, cover with finely crushed saltines, and pan fry in half veg oil and half butter. Lemon Pepper for additional seasoning. My favorite way. Put on a soaked cedar plank, rub with dijon mustard, put caramelized onions on top of mustard fillets, top with a little melted butter (or...

    Purple Martins

I thought the Martin/Mosquito connection was more false than true. Martins feed high in the sky during the day and are more likely eating larger bugs than the mosquitoes that are dormant in the grasses during the day. They are still fun to watch, however.

    Best rib recipe

I've removed the silver skin before, but many times I don't. There are those (me included) who don't want fall-off-the-bone ribs. That doesn't mean they're not tender, but I like picking up the bone and chewing off the meat. A combination of Tantonka Dust and Famous Dave's Rib Rub is my dry...

    Yeti Colster

Just like everything else Yeti, it's over-engineered and it's expensive.........but it is the best. At $29 it is the most expensive coozie you'll ever own, but just like the Yeti coolers that make ice, this thing will actually make your beer colder. It's true!!! At least for $30 it does come...

    NDGF

Overall I think they do a great job. You just can't please everybody. Sometimes they do things for reasons that people without their training and knowledge don't understand, but science-wise it's the right thing to do. That's why it just drives me bonkers when politicians (who don't have a...

    Your best fishing day ever..

Devil's Lake a few years ago, middle of summer. Had to go back for bait three times, and we were just using the smallest piece of worm we could on a spinner. Trolling bottom bouncers in a 100 yard stretch back and forth a friend and I caught over 100 walleye.
