    I'm told a river carpsucker. Mine (couple years ago) was probably close to that size too. I hooked it by the dorsal fin, and brought it in (shorefishing) in current. Put up a tussle.

    For those who are interested.

    A tail-hooked, or dorsal-hooked carp, in current, from shore, is a regular rodeo. For contrast, a wing-hooked seagull won't put up much fight, even though they're extremely unhappy about the situation.
