Next weekend SD has one, but it's antlers, skulls, treestands, guns, and some other misc stuff. I think I'm going to go check it out at least. Looks like they'll have lots of interesting stuff to look at and probably bid on.
I've had the exact same experience at Cabelas two different times now. Order a product, receive a confirmation, only to find out a week later that they cancelled my order due to not having it. I've called them both times and they would not do anything to keep my business. I figured they would...
My goal this year is to find a bowhunting spot of private land within 45 min of Sioux Falls. The first year I wasn't able to find that, last year I only hunted public and there's just way too damn many people. I don't know if I'll do it or not, but I'd love to find something, so that I can hunt...
Completely different things. How SD G&F runs things is amazing, truly appreciate how things are done in that manner and being able to get multiple deer tags every year is awesome. However, not growing up around here, so no knowing anyone with land and the trespass laws suck. It might be...
They send out random email surveys, but as far as I know they are not mandatory . . . at least for deer and antelope. I still fill them out, it literally takes 30 seconds and I figure they need data to accurately manage the deer herd. I think I got both a West River deer and antelope survey this...
Same for me always, Winchester 2 3/4' shell with 6 shot in the first barrel and 4 shot in the 2nd barrel. Many times you get closer shots late season, so no need to putting in turkey loads or anything crazy like that. Shoot them in the head and they die.
I think we'll run outfitters are doing pretty well once you factor in non-resident bow hunters as well. Just take a look at some of the lodges these guys build, they are doing pretty well.
I like Option #1 personally, seems to make the most sense and keeps a free market approach. By allocating tags directly to Outfitters, it creates a very expensive product to a select few non-residents. Definitely an interesting topic.
ND G&F for taking their sweet ass time each year when drawing deer tags. Seriously we love the suspense and appreciate that we can at least pay up front, just to get a refund after the second drawing a few months later.
If you are a resident, it won't affect you at all because it's only taken out of the existing non-resident tags. Now as for me (since I am a non-resident as of 2 years ago) it really sucks because there are already so few tags in each unit. By the time you take out landowner and outfitter tags...
