This may be coming from my first 20 years spent in SD, where you need to get permission for private land regardless of posting, but I think ND should go to that as well.
Yes, the idea of being able to hunt a bunch of private land without tracking down the land owner sounds good, but those...
It's in one of those quick access safes. With two small kids, that's the best I can do.
30 rounds of 10mm should be enough to shoot my way to my big safe, grab my ARs, then it's on ;).

My budget is about $1000 for hardware and setup. I was hoping to go the stand-alone...
Apparently the wife is not comforted by the giant chocolate lab in the garage and the Glock under the bed (locked up of course). It’s always a big deal for me to be gone a few days for work or hunting. Apparently just my commanding presence is enough to keep shady people away from our house…...
I believe there was an article in a recent Field and Stream that covers the “if they want to eliminate them, why can’t we shoot them?” question.
Essentially it comes down to shooting one or two pigs out of a group (apparently called a “sounder”) does little to nothing in the way of eliminating...
I'd like to see some of them make their way to ND / SD. An 80 pounder would make a sweet pelt for the wall. Although I'd probably hesitate on the trigger wondering if it's a small wolf and if the G&F is going to string me up.

I like the Drs explanation of the...
Lost mine about a month in at the Devils Tower campground in the dark. Luckily found it with a flashlight after a very tense hour or so with the missus. I got it sized smaller, which is better, but still leave it off hunting, fishing, or at the gym. My wife would not be ok with just leaving...
F-ing ridiculous.
"Member tribes welcome the night hunt as an additional opportunity for members to put meat on the table."
-- Here's an idea: take my tax dollars and go to the supermarket and this time try buying something for your kids that won't give them diabetes.
The SD is where it's at. There are some counties that usually have left over triple doe tags.
My brother, a buddy and I piled up 9 in one day last year.
However, most of these counties have very little public land, so you gotta know people. Unlike ND, you need permission regardless of...
That deer likely would have been just fine in a few weeks.
Having said that, you did the right thing. No one likes to see an animal suffer.
It would be an especially tough choice for me cause I’ve been seeing some monsters on my trail cams (although not in person yet).
This could be...
Spot and Stalk bow hunting mulies in the open country is tough, but very rewarding when it comes together.
If nothing else, it's always an adventure.
It's been a couple years since I've connected with one. Gonna take another run at it in the Pierre area next week.
I hope to have a post about it.
Yeah, but it's not.
Nosler doesn't make a 50 grain. They have 35, 40, 55, and 62.
Also, Noslers apparently contain either some gold, diamonds, or unobtainium. That would be a pretty expensive bullet to put on a cheap round.
With a lighter barrel profile, you may need hack a few inches off the barrel in order to have enough 'meat' to cut the threads into. This is definitely a gunsmith type job, and considering the amount of 'hack' and velocity you would lose, may not be worth it.
Best solution is to buy an AR...
I have the Varminter 2.0 from Dakota Silencer in 7.62. I use it on all my guns from 223 to 7mm.
They were great to deal with and make the process as easy as it could be considering the bureaucratic nature of it.
Sound suppression is usually equivalent to wearing a good set of muffs. IE: you...
Some great side-conversations here, but back to the original spirit of this thread:
When my wife gets in a cold car in the winter, she immediately cranks the fan as high as it will go.
I've tried explaining where the heat comes from and until the engine warms up all she's doing is blowing cold...
I'll admit to shattering a side mirror on my brothers truck with muzzle blast. -- No one thought it was funny at the time, especially the coyote.
He gave me a lot of shit about it until a few years later, he was shooting at a target over the hood of his truck with his coat as a rest. He wasn't...
I know this thread is more about Scheels customer service -- which I agree is usually great -- but I'll share a similar boot experience.
I had a pair of Danners that were broke-in and I took on a back country DIY elk hunt in CO. Day 1 I had blisters on both heels. By day 10, both heels were a...
It's funny to see how many others also deal with the 'imaginary scoreboard'. I've tried to explain to her that keeping score is petty and stupid (especially since she only keeps positive points for herself and negative ones for me), but that only lost me more points.
I looked at that

950 Lbs of brass would be 1,710 worth of "brass credit".
That's a crap load of new ammo you could get pretty much for free.
