KDM, youre gonna need a few tanks to hit 40F. My parents are in South Padre. They had freeze warnings down to San Antonio.

We bought 2 tickets to Mesa two weeks ago. Left last Friday after work and came home Monday afternoon. $300/ticket, sat in the sun and watched baseball for a couple days and came home...really took the edge of things. 75 degrees and sunny...A sunburn never felt so good!

I think we are going to start doing that every year about this time. It's a cheap down and back and really helps with the psychological side of winter. Best $1,000 we've spend in a long time.

Came home last Sunday morning from Steinbach Manitoba. North of Cando a few miles, there were around 200 deer feeding in a soybean field. It was -5 with a 35 to 45 mph wind and these deer are out scrounging for food. 5146A3F2-65B2-4461-A67E-609D039C4180.jpg Typically if they are out eating in winds that strong, they are definitely hungry. Hope the weather turns around soon.

On a a side note, I got a phone call this morning from the Riverside Casino in Laughlin Nevada and was comped a flight and room for April, thinking about taking them up on it.

Gal I graduated with said a couple weeks ago they had the same deal from Laughlin. All comped, didn't win a thing but maybe that can't be all that bad. Hopefully they pay for the WHOLE trip. Good luck!

And Yea! KDM, I don't know how many times I thought of that this year. First year retired. Many times it would be just a trip down to Buffalo SD or even Hettinger, but not this winter. We all need to get a big bus or something and just head to 40 degree+ on a poker run like the bikers do, or something similar.

Sure hope some of you can help out with feeding them, when winter gets rough, they need alittle help with food supply, if we want to keep hunitng, we have to help the number stay up there. I knew couple of farmers that put out feed for them. But sometimes mother nature wants to be nasty. frustrating

What is the G&F stance of farmers putting feed out? I get the intention but not sure it's best for long term?

Between the cold temps, snowfalls that won't let up and sick kids this year it is getting pretty old.

There against it do to cad. Hell they used to run huge feeding stations around here till the early 2000's. Have to be careful and not feed straight corn or it can kill them.

I spent three hours Wednesday evening shoving snow off my roof. Got it about half done. Drift on the south side of the house ranged from 2.5-3.5 feet thick. I'm going to finish it today, then mix a stupid strong cocktail and sleep for 12 hours -- assuming the kids let me.

I'm very thankful not to be living in the house we were in three years ago. We'd be battling another flooded basement again this spring, I'm sure (despite all our counter measures). When the house is the lowest point of four lots, well, it gathers a bit of runoff. Now we're the highest part of our block. And it makes me happy.

Hotel bill for a week was 1000 with 800 for the plane plus additional funds for the tolls on the sidewalks and for the use of the elevator plus 20/night for parking and no vehicle. great and no old mill in san Antonio. db

A good 6" in Bismarck as of noon Sat and looks like we'll get another inch or two yet. Guess the downgrade yesterday to 2-4 was a little off.
