Unreal. I had family land in that unit in the early-mid 2000s and it was crawling with deer. I don't think they even sold all the tags that were available a couple years.

You ever look at Google earth map, it will tell you all that you need to know why there isn't much for a deer population especially the northern part. You get farther south of Grafton and west of grand forks you see more numbers but in all instances the same conclusion can be made.

there is still deer around where there is bush left, I would hate to guess how many acres of bush the biggest farmer around here has taken down in the last 15 years,

Wouldn't it be a moot point if you're carrying your tag? Also been in 2J1 since Friday, seen very few and only heard a couple rifle shots each day and I'm surrounded by a lot of public land.
It’s a very moot point. But from my experiences most of the wardens are pretty decent with this and realize it’s more of a clerical/technicality of law issue than anything. Most probably understand it’s pretty retarded the way the current setup is when they can take your drivers license punch you in the system and literally see everything you have or dont have.

First walk we kicked up 4 doe's and two bucks. Second walk we ran into seven doe's. Saw more driving around and about 6 small bucks, not even above the ears. Saturday morning, we woke up and saw it was going to start raining. Shot a little 4X3 right away in the morning. Already had a batch of jerky made before supper.

I had the privilege of taking one of my Twinions out this weekend. It's weird being a Dad, normally I'd be all about "look what I got!". Not so much anymore. Now I do it for them and not myself. The picture of us walking is my favorite from the weekend. Saturday morning walking to the blind was quite amazing. I love deer season!

Awesome job Dad! I know the feeling - I get so excited to watch my boys learn to hunt, experience what nature has to offer, conversations, and patience. That buck has awesome character!
