I had the privilege of taking one of my Twinions out this weekend. It's weird being a Dad, normally I'd be all about "look what I got!". Not so much anymore. Now I do it for them and not myself. The picture of us walking is my favorite from the weekend. Saturday morning walking to the blind was quite amazing. I love deer season!
I know the feeling, now that my daughters tag is filled I'm not as excited to get out without her. Maybe she or the 10yr old daughter will come sit just to watch, or both of them. I still am going to get out but it just feels different, tough to explain exactly. Could also be that our population is so low I am going to be pretty selective on what I shoot.
Those are some great pictures by the way.

No rifle tag for me in 2F1. I drew last year after a 4-year hiatus so I wasn't expecting to. Sat the weekend before opener in the woods with my bow and saw a whopping three deer over two days in an area that is typically much better.

One thing I noticed right off was the amount of standing corn still around. That was a bit mind boggling.

Also found three dead heads. Sign all around of active deer was lower than normal. Perhaps it was early, but there's still some communal scrapes and funnels that get hit on a normal year that seemed to show little activity.

Gonna try somewhere a big closer to town this weekend. After that, who knows. Just need a brown deer in bow range to fill the freezer!

Things are getting a little wild here at the ranch. Had a nice 5x5 with in 10ft of the house last night about 4:30 (no tag this year) and while I was playing on this computer I looked up to see a yote watching me though the dinning room window and as soon as I moved he was gone. Need to build a turret on top of my shack. LB

Shot a 4x6 with the bow at 5:18pm yesterday. I thought the hit was bad so I waited an hour and lost my patience. Turns out the hit was good and he traveled about 100 yards. When I found him a 4x4 was trying to kill him even though he was already dead. He was pushing so hard his front feet were off the ground, and he hooked him about three feet in the air at one time. He didn't want to leave and I didn't have a gun so I walked back to the house for the side by side and chased him off with that.
I was only 150 yards from my house so I brought him back and boned him out in the lights outside the lawn shed. The 4x4 must have had a standing dispute with my deer and could smell him where I was working on him. He came down the belt behind the house and was rakeing lilacs behind me. I went in the house for a brighter light and a handgun then run him off, but I watched my back for the hour it took to bone out ny deer. The security cameras showed him in the back yard until 10:30.

Hope you don't mind: This post^^^^ is now in the Hills: Cousin kept sending me pics of two bucks licking each other like cats and wondered the existence of actual deer queers. Your post validated my thoughts and confirmed he likely has masturbated.
