People arent entering tournaments because they dont think they have enough boat, they are entering because tournaments are nothing more than glorified fastest boat, dick swinging contests.

I'd rather spend my precious free time on the water with my family than be told I have to fish a certain part of the lake on a certain day no matter the conditions, then stand around a buncha "bros" and talk about how we almost had the fish to win.

tournaments are like chicks, some are fun and full of good times, others are a bitch and full of hate and regret.

I like a good time girl, and don't need to show other dudes the length of my assets.

What i cant believe is we still have people that believe that sparkles and horsepower win tourneys --- maybe it helps you cope - idk

Anyway --
Casino tourney on DL - i dont know who won or where or if it made a difference
Chamber was won on creel - slip bobber on a spot that anybody could of motored to that site -and it wasnt a first to spot - it was a spot
PA guy -- yeah he had a alum boat -- his buddy seen that when it rained the boats came from the east -- he went east fished by Jim - got his fish and won the big NWT.

I believe it was last year's either chamber or casino tourney was won by 2 young guys in a ~16' tiller boat w/40-50hp motor. They were able to float over 281 when the big boats couldn't and they got the big fish they needed to win.

Casino is generally won in Pelican. 18 miles from Casino to Mauvee Bridge. Big boats with big motors help. Cant recall who won last year or boat/motor.

Chamber last year was won in 2 places. Creel rocks and Golden Pond. 18 ft tiller with 90. Conditions allowed for the runs in that caliber boat.

NWT was owned out east. Obviously all big boats. Conditions both days would have allowed for unlimited running with any reasonably sized boat.

Fully this thread has been resurrected from the dead. My big sparkly likely wont be built until mid June at the earliest. That means I will be fishing tourneys out of my Yar Craft 1675 (late 80s vintage) with a new 90 Merc 4 stroke. I am actually excited about it. I may be able to access some areas my big sparkly cant.... I may miss the 67 mph top end, overall size and the comfort that comes with it, and storage but my 40 mph baby Yar will do just fine.

Really much of a difference going 65mph vs. 45mph for you tournament guys...just curious? Doing 40 to 45mph sure seems pretty legit on water to me...but I've never done 65mph...prolly never will!

First off fast is fun. 20+ mph better top end can make a difference in tourneys that have long runs. Beyond that, often faster boats are bigger which means better rough water speeds.

How about this win win concept? 2 classes of tourney entries
Class 1- Motors 0-199hp
Class 2- Motors 200hp and above
Each with thier own entry fee and besides the guarantee payout for 1st for each class, the remaining payout is determined by the number of entrants in that class.
Win win..big sparkly boats and motors get seen in class 2 entrants.
Lesser boat and motor dealers get seen in class 1 entrants.
Win win..so..any debbie downers out there pooh poohing this concept?
