I have an 8 twist 7 Rem Mag. It will do anything (and more) that the 7PRC will do. I launch 180s just a hair over 3,000fps with a 26" barrel.

Yes, a long bullet encroaches on the powder space more, but if you're using H1000, or better yet, RL26, you don't even need all that space to hit max pressure and max speed.
Yes, the case has a belt. You can still headspace off the shoulder. Non-issue.

Don't get me wrong, I like the PRC lineup, but the 7 Mag is a winner for a reason.

^^^^That was cool. I've got a line on an '80's push feed M70. Thought about a PRC re bbl--IDK. I don't reload. I also don't shoot past 400. I've just answered my own question if the bbl shoots.

Another thing just occurred to me; how the hell is the belt in any way inferior for consistent headspace? It's never "bothered" me before. Seems an elegant solution if the brass has tight tolerances.

A “crush fit” off the shoulder is the only way IMO.

Unless you drool on a regular basis.
You mean like you don't set the shoulder back at all when resizing? That seems ok for a range toy, but if your chamber gets a bit dirty (flake of carbon from the suppressor, etc), you may not be able close the bolt without really hamming on it.
