Anybody have any expierence with mapleriver kennels?

Looks like alot of show titles in the pedigree. English lab is a red flag to me as they are generally slow and not very much stamina and mostly for the show ring. Health wise looks as they do a good job on the testing. If your looking for a dog that is going to be 90 percent lay around maybe retrieve something slowly here and there might fit the bill. The American and some British labs will still lay around but retrieve with much more desire and style.

Certainly no dog expert but I thought the British/English lab was kind of all the rage lately? Little smaller, less hyper I thought were the selling points? Could certainly be off there...Have a friend with one and it's no different than any other than I've known, little shorter legs probably.

Have hunted with a couple dogs out of Sheyenne River Retrievers from Mandan and seem like good dogs. Good on/off switch around the house but balls to the walls hunting. They have a fair amount of Red in their breeding program and have litters pretty frequently. http://www.sheyenneriverretrievers.com/

Ya English and British are different with English being the short I call fat show dogs . British come from working lines athletic dogs like their American counter parts. Off switch is mostly on the trainer but granted there are some lines the average person isn’t going to handle or want to.

Kurt,
I would be interested in seeing the pedigree line on your dog. Good looking dog. I like looking at pedigree lines. I usually look for Lean Mac, General Patton, or Candlewoods in the bloodlines.

On the lab note, anyone have or know of a stud in the bismarck area, american "hunting" black lab preffered (bump head), not a "show dog" lab. Doesnt need to be pure/papered as my bitch is a mutt of sorts, mother is pure golden, father is unknown but she looks like a yellow lab.

Wait wait wait, you referenced American hunting lab, a British show dog and a mutt of sorts are you creating a frankenstein-like Canadian dog. Does anyone smell fish slurry or Mexican vanilla…..kidding/grin

Here it is on hunting lab pedigree. He is not that impressive. He will be the most titled dog for a couple generations. Going to try and get enough tests this year to get a mh and then i really want to run the grand. I didnt think i was going to get into the dog games like i have and now know way more what I am looking at in pedigrees. He had lean mack back in there a ways. He also has afc fc black waters Rudy who i was talking with a guy the other day about and said that Rudy was a great marker but got his feelings hurt easy. Which is crazy as that is Banks. If he is on he will run an all age triple and look good doing it. But he has truly taught me how to read a dog and some days its better just to pick and be done vs trying to push through and create lasting problems .

Will get another puppy in a couple years and I am leaning closer to firebreather
I really like how chopper looks but need to learn more about him https://www.huntinglabpedigree.com/pedigree.asp?id=1224

Also Dude is another dog i really like.

The candlewoods dogs are an awesome line. I like the history of the field trial game . I spend a lot of time reading about them and looking on hunting lab pedigree

I wish there were more videos of dogs like lottie running.
My girl dog has some Candlewoods in her. She’s a great pooch.
