The vehicle involved in the Amber Alert from Montana this morning has been located in Minot, as has one suspect, Melinda Tweet.
The second suspect, Timothy Dornheim, and the child believed to have been abducted or otherwise endangered, Kenzley Olson, are still being sought.

I woke up twice, didn't like it one bit, but sure wont be turning the system off.
I have 4 kids, grandkids, nephews, nieces, etc. I would never be able to live with my selfishness in the event it was one of my loved ones and didn't get notice.
I was awoken when my children cried in the night for a bottle, or a bad dream, or being sick, I sure didn't turn a deaf ear to them.

As much as an old grouch as I am, I would do anything to help a child, including an inconvenient wake up at 330 am mountain time

Drove me nuts when it went off too but I didn't, and wont, turn off the alert. Thinking about it more and trying to justify why the hell they issued it in the middle of the night my guess is that is when they figured out who may have abducted her, what they might be driving, and where they were headed.

They have to run a process before they can issue it.....All reports have to be verified through multiple avenues so as to make sure they are real before being put out. False alarms would be what would hurt the system far more than the inconveniences a few feel. Once substantiated they don't look at the clock, they are most concerned with getting the accurate info. out ASAP. I'm actually pretty stunned over a few responses on this thread.

I got up to go lock up uptown and that thing went off in my pocket, about 5 seconds later still in a shocked but still blurry sleep haze I had a spider crawling up my leg. Could't help but let out a "What the hell was that all about!"

Like mentioned above, there is a process the authorities have to go through in order to issue an alert. They will issue the alert as soon as possible, even in the middle of the night, because there have been many studies showing that every minute matters in these situations. But they go through the process to make sure they have the story correct, check up on leads, and try to prevent false alarms.

I don't like hearing about anyone having bad things happen to them, but I get a "Special" kind of angry when someone does something bad to a kid. I like to hear about these Amber Alert things and I keep my eyes open for them as well.

They have located not only the woman they sought, but also the male.

The kid is still missing and the two people sought are no longer under suspicion.

Just reading this thread and got another noticed. While I have 4 kids in my house and don't want a thing to happen to them and would want the alerts to be sent. Last night I had placed my phone next the bassinet for our 3mo old. That alert came across, I bolted across the room in a haze and shut the phone off. Its been a rough couple of nights with the wife traveling for work.

However inconvenient a notice comes across to us, it is terrifying for the parents and family. I'll pray they have a happy resolution.

Wasn't thrilled about the timing of it, but glad it is a tool that takes advantage of the latest technology.

If you think about how many people this alert reached in a matter of 30-60 minutes it is pretty amazing. If everyone would actually keep an eye out there wouldn't be many places to hide. I have a 15 month old at home so I am glad the tool is out there.

It sure makes you angry when you see the picture of the missing girl.

Or simply NEVER had her. It wasn't that long ago an Amber Alert was issued for a kid up in Parshall. Turns out the named suspect in that example had died about a year earlier. Ooops...

As usual, there are more questions than answers with situations like this.

If it were my kid missing, I want the Amber alert to wake people up on the north pole.

Okay, they never had her..... Why cancel the Amber Alert if the child is still missing?

Because their initial suspicions were false and they need to find more info before they can issue a NEW alert.
