There are 5 different weight formulas for use in estimating muskies based off length and girth. 60 pounds was the high out of all of them, but regardless, it would have been a MN state record if they would have kept it (currently 54 pounds 0 ounces).

Crazy how that thing hangs off the sides of the bump board.

In comparison, here is a 21-22 inch girth on my bump board from this fall.

That is the kind of fish that makes people not want to swim in pelican lake and prefer the ocean with its smaller predators

That sucker would be hanging on my wall next to a Minnesota Record Fish plaque.

I bet it would make a whole GALLON pickled -- possibly two.

I've had these monsters grab onto walleyes up to and over 20"s,they come right to the boat with the walleye sideways in their mouth, look at you, make eye contact and then release the walleye just far enough out away from my net.

Musky, spot on,60lbs seems alittle over the top,why not make it 62lbs? like the one that got away...

Have a friend that claims the world record CPR'd musky, seen pics 60" brute out of Lac Suel Bob Mehsikomer, this was after he did the musky fishing film "Thunder on the Water" he was and still is a musky fishin nut and will be until the day he dies, been a few years since I've seen him, last note from Bob was he's holding down the fort on LOW these days,.Mostly guiding if is health is good.

That there is a walleye eating machine. I bet he gobbles at least 10, 2007 class eyes a week.

In most of the MN lakes with muskies there are also cisco (or tullibee, I don't even know the difference), which spawn super shallow when the water temps start getting into the 30's. The muskies absolutely gorge themselves on these fish as they are super high in oil content, and they fatten up the muskies real nice.

The rest of the year when the water is over 30 degrees, they eat walleyes and crappies by the hundred.

Sometimes they don't even eat them, they just kill em for the sport of it. #whitemushkyprivalige

Mehsikomer was notorious for over estimating his fish. Everytime he would catch a decent muskie, without measureing it, he would call it a fifty and release it. He then claimed having caught hundreds of fifty inchers probably without measuring 90% of them. He used the "camera adds ten lbs" logic to his musky. This is no dis to you Snow and I hope no offense was taken. That Bob feller has always seemed a little suspect to me with all his claims.

I seen a video once of what he claimed was a possible world record that he had on that threw the hook right next to the boat. It was no doubt a giant musky but the claim of a new world record seemed a bit out there. From the video it looked like he was over estimating the fish by maybe 30lbs.

With a fish that size, why let it go? The population will suffer if you take out one state record Muskie? Pickle that Shiite!

If I ever catch a state record musky there is no doubt it's getting thumped on the head.

There is a state record musky caught every fall and released, however. It would be super hard to make the call in the boat with all the commotion, especially considering most have never kept a musky and have been preached catch and release. What if it's under......that would haunt me for a while.

The record has stood since 1957, however, I think it would be cool to break it officially.

That would suck thumping a 50+ lber and it ends being a lb short of the record. I guess you would have one hell of a mount.

Sioux Lookout, on Lac Seul, is tons of fun. Great lake!
