Blue monster tape, if your real concerned...rectorseal, 3 wraps of blue monster, and a final light smidge of rectorseal. Works from 1/4” to 6” doesn’t matter the pipe or thread material, other than liquid lp. And yes don’t over tighten. As far as shark bite goes...there’s a reason pro press is the go to, you’d be better with a compression x compression valve

Propress has saved us hours of headaches like this. It's so fast and has cut down on time that beyond covers cost of the fittings. I don't solder EVER unless I have to. Sharkbites are also a good emergency go to

They work alright but soldered copper pipe is hard to beat and it still doesn't fix my problem, the filter head has female threads on each side.

Which one? There's the soft seal black stuff that never really hardens or the Tru Blue?

We used this all the time. Teflon tape often doesn't work. Make sure you stir the heck out of this stuff before using.

I worked with this stuff for decades, as said before rectorseal and PTFE tape. Do not overwrap the PTFE tape. Three wraps is more than enough. Make sure you wrap with the threads so it doesn't bunch up. In addition, as stated previously, put some union joints on that copper pipe. This way there is no way heat can be conducted to plastic if you try to repair a leak in the copper line. Finally, do not over tighten the plastic filter head. It is really easy to put a micro fracture in these. That is a leak you will never stop. Take your time, walk away for a while if you must. An installation that looks leak free when you are done can develop leaks after a couple pressure cycles.

30 posts trying to figure out how to join a pipe and a fixture without a leak? We are better than this at nodak angler. I mean it's plumbing. Akin to Lincoln logs and pick up sticks. 100 posts or we ain't doing our job for this man.
