So the time is getting narrow and the temps are cold enough to freeze pretty much anything off, but i'm gonna give it one last go this weekend, try and stick a doe. Anyone else still have a tag in the pocket and holding out? on a side note, already found 2 sheds this year, so gonna try and make damn sure it actually is a doe.

I went out last week. After finding deer I thought about the tough winter and went home and hung up my bow. Two days ago I screwed up my shoulder. Can hardly get my seat belt on. I need to help out at my son's house too. I hope I didn't mess up a rotator cuff.

The one buck had his nose to the ground and traveling. You would have thought he was in the middle of the Rut.

deer have been hitting the dirt in my group circle jerk. I killed a good buck last week and 2 of my buddies slayed big old bucks this week. One was last night. Then another buddy dropped a doe.

My wife is still trying to fill her tag. fun times

Yes but with what's going on doubt if I could pull the bow back. Spending time keeping feed out. Horns are on the ground for a good share and for the one I would of put a arrow in. Db

I'll be out tonight, and possibly Sunday. I'm gonna go creep around with my whites on and see how close I can get.

Shoot bucks if you go out this winter is gonna be tough enough on the herd so it might be wise to not take a doe that could have fawns

Yeah the tag is for any antlerless I'd pick the biggest bodied you can without antlers and stick that one! Good luck BTW.

what about shooting a yearling? Just thinking that they have the least chance of making the winter, take a yearling out of the equation assuming it would be a winter mortality and thus saving a doe? maybe it doesn't make sense, just a thought.

going this afternoon, tomorrow, and sunday if necessary. Thermacare heat pads have been a life saver. Stick one on lower back, and one on chest. Stay toasty warm.

Went last weekend but hung up my bow Monday. Saw several bucks that had shed already and the deer were struggling just to survive. Hoping for an early spring.:(

I was hunting a very large herd wintering in a corn field. But two packs of coyotes have moved in had have been killing deer easily n daily and have them scattered throughout the valley now. I've always hunted until the very end but not this year, damn thing have a tough road ahead of them. Have found a couple dead mature buck already.

I'm going to give it a shot Sunday and will shoot the first thing that comes by. I figure one less deer gives all the rest a better chance at the remaining food in the area.

Over the last two weeks we have had 19 folks come in and hunt does out of a stand we have. Everyone that came filled but one and there were 3 first time deer shot by people from 9 to 40 some thing. Met some nice folks, got some help thinning down some numbers of does and over all it was a good deal with only a couple hic ups. The does we either helped gut or heard back from had a fair bit of fat and were in nice shape (one had triplets) so hopefully Ma Nature gives a little break and they have a little easier road ahead.

The bucks have not been so lucky. The three that the boys and Dad shot had very little to no fat on them during rifle season. A few other people have told me the same. They have had a tough go. I guess my theory is leave the bucks we have to up the odds of some making it while decreasing pressure by harvesting does. But then we focus more on better bucks than total numbers.

We have found probably 40 some sheds already and I'm guessing 80% of the bucks have lost their horns.

Anyways thanks again for those that came up and helped out taking a few does, there were a few guys from on here.

Thanks again for letting us on gst! I had my wife drop mine off at Valley custom meats last week. Backstraps on the traeger and a boatload of hunters mix breakfast sausage will soon be blessing my house
