This is not AI/Photoshop. From an actual news clip on Youtube.

Better than Pig Pounders...
Here is a list of real team names that are somewhat controversial
  • Robstown Cotton Pickers (Robstown High School, Texas)
Frequently ranked among the most controversial due to evoking slavery-era imagery and labor exploitation.
  • Neshaminy Redskins (Neshaminy High School, Pennsylvania)
The "Redskins" name (often censored as R*dskins in reports) has drawn major criticism for being a racial slur against Native Americans; it's been the subject of lawsuits and protests.
  • Coachella Valley Arabs (Coachella Valley High School, California)
The name and past mascot (a caricatured figure) have been accused of stereotyping Arab people, leading to ongoing debate.
  • Freeburg Midgets (Freeburg High School, Illinois)
Criticized by advocacy groups for people with dwarfism as derogatory and insensitive.
  • Centralia Orphans (Centralia High School, Illinois)
Boys' teams are "Orphans," girls' are "Annies" — seen as oddly morbid or insensitive to themes of abandonment/loss.
  • Yuma Criminals (Yuma High School, Arizona)
Embracing "criminals" as a mascot feels off-putting and glorifies lawbreaking in a humorous but questionable way.
  • Frisco Fighting Coons (Frisco High School, Texas – historical name)
Changed in 2002 due to racial connotations (a slur), but the original name was notoriously offensive.
  • Laurel Hill Hoboes (Laurel Hill High School, Florida)
Named after vagrants/homeless wanderers — quirky and funny to some, but offensive to others for stereotyping poverty.
  • Aniak Halfbreeds (Aniak High School, Alaska – noted in some lists)
Extremely controversial for using a term tied to racial mixing in a derogatory historical context.
  • Hoopeston Area Cornjerkers (Hoopeston Area High School, Illinois)
Sounds hilariously suggestive to modern ears (even if it's agricultural), and it's often cited in "weird/funny" lists for that reason.

I liked the Dickinson Midgets, they only changed the name maybe 4 or 5 yrs ago.

When I was in High School Devils Lake was the Satan's I believe.
Dickinson just changed at the end of last year, this is their first year as the Mavericks. Ill be honest, as someone not from Dickinson I always thought the Midgets was a dumb mascot, and that feeling seemed to be pretty common.

I remember when Devils Lake changed from the Satans and they let the students pick a new name and they chose the Blaze. Then the admin realized why they chose that and switched them to the Firebirds haha

Here are 5 plausible-sounding high school team name ideas that make subtle, vague nods to marijuana culture—enough for a knowing chuckle from some fans, but not so overt that they'd get instantly banned by most school boards:
  1. The Green Haymakers
  2. The Chronic Chargers
  3. The Blaze Trailblazers
  4. The Budding Broncos
  5. The Kush Country Kings
