Broken Shotgun

I have a Savage 12 gauge pump with a cracked stock. Broke it probably 25 years ago and has been collecting dust ever since. Trying to decide if I should pay someone to repair it, sell it as is, trade it for a fishing rod or something else. I don’t really hunt much. Thoughts?

Unless your missing some pieces, it's a easy fix.

It would make a sucky fence post as well....I'd toss it as to not infect my other weapons.

Hang on to it if it's your last/only shotgun. Get it repaired cheaply.

You should never get rid of a shotgun. It's too versatile. I believe a replacement stock is a relatively easy find and/or the value of the gun negates the need for a perfect repair. If nothing else; glue the stock, cut it off to 19in and spray paint it. IMHO.

Fix it, the gun most likely has memories.

This thread got me thinking about my Hiawatha ( made by Savage for Gamble stores ) 12 gauge that I started hunting with as a kid. I used that gun through my youth and into my early 20's and shot quite a few birds with it. Sometime in the 80's I was cleaning the gun and broke a tiny screw off in the ejector. The gun has been sitting in the safe ever since and I lost the piece years ago. I just found and purchased an ejector on E-bay for $ 10 and it totaled $ 13.78 with tax and shipping. I can't wait for it to show up and get it installed and see if I can still hit anything with the full choke. It sounds like the gun new sold for around $ 60 new and todays has a value around $ 100 but to me it is priceless.
