They migrate at night. Saw a flock once. Huge flock relatively speaking. The trailing legs were a telltale sign.
That sounds like something a Sconi would say.... :;:
I've never thought of enhancing my water spread with anything other than more duck decoys. And even then, I think the most I've ever put out was five dozen. Otherwise it's a dozen or less for me (plus a spinner).
Then again, I don't hunt divers much. I hear they take a bit more numbers to get the drawing power desired.
Has anyone ever seen a flock of coots flying in migration?
I like to use the drake diver decoys with white backs when hunting mallards or divers. The white backs are seen by much farther distance away and have a great drawing power. By hey let the anti diver snobs stick with their all mallard spreads!
I have heard about swans, Herron, and coots being good confidence decoys, but in my neck of the woods not much is needed to bring in unpressured birds.
Do they have Coots Unlimited banquets?:;:cheers
bring it to rough rider gamebirds in gf. hes not accepting deposits and wont answer the door but you can leave them on the lawn and itll get mounted someday way down the road.
