Hey guys, does anyone have a current update on either access? I know the docks are gone. Looking to try and get out one last time with this (slight) warm up coming. We did well a couple weeks ago. Thanks!
I would recommend going out of deepwater if you are fishing that southern end of the hook. The dock should be out now but when you launch the boat into the water go just to the right around the corner and the bank is steep and a good place to beach the boat for getting in and out.
I would go down and look for you, but it really isn't worth the oil companies fuel to tell you it was -9 in my truck this morning when I got out here so we were making some ice
November something a long time ago my uncle put in his boat at New Town. He had to break ice to get out to the open water with his small aluminum fishing boat.
That was the day he caught the 14 pound 6 ouncer that was at that time the largest walleye actually caught in North Dakota.
I called Ft. Stevenson this morning. No ice at Ft. Stevenson. Still waiting on a return call from Pick City State Park. I will be fishing out of the Ranger 2 to 4 days next week!!!! I am so happy to get another week of open water.:fishon:
Yes indeed BDub. BIG FISH is why we do it. Snap a pic and release. Thumbs Up I have an aluminum Pro V and bring the ice spud. Ice up to 1/2 is OK when using caution. 12 years on Mille Lacs doing this well into Nov for some years before the night closure started. Cisco spawn = monster fish at night. Seems we got ripped off here this Fall.
six or eight years ago we fished with 3/4" of ice in the hook. you could only go as slow as the boat would go in gear. you would slide up and break the ice and over and over again. crazy as hell. couldn't believe it but never put a scratch in the tin boat. welded hull. rivets wouldn't make a difference.
