Dead perch on Audubon

Anybody else notice 2.5 to 3 inch perch dead just under the ice. Noticed three of them at Velva Point on Friday!

That’s not good. The perch population is getting better every year out there. The northerns must be staying full!

Not sure if it was a perch or not but seen a minnows sized fish dead under the ice around same area yesterday as well.

They were perch. Took my auger and dug one up.

Someone catching them deep and ther too small to keep and throwing them back and they die?

That makes no sense. I’m not questioning what you saw but what would be killing them?

we had a similar situation 4-5 years back , only it was crappie there was a virus killing them , I wish I could remember the details , but people fishing the lake would see dead fish on the bottom continued even into ice out , Cavour Lake SD was where this happened , semi shallow pot hole type lake , way different body of water but it gets me wondering something similar maybe ?

It’s sad to see these Strong Schools/ Schools of Strength wiped out.
