Ive got a busy spring coming up...starting in 3 weeks I'll be targeting African sharptooth catfish in the Isimangaliso, African tigerfish on the Pongola, Giant Trevally, pacific sails, Zambizi shark, Queenfish, giant guitarfish, etc. on the Indian ocean, flatheads in Richards bay & Durban Harbor and then off to south Florida to fish Lake Ida for clown knife, Peacock bass, and snakehead, east to the coastal waters for snook, tarpon & goliath grouper, the urban canals for invasives, and then over to the everglades for oscar & pythons.

I should get off my ass & post pictures one of these days

in the works but not booked Spain for Wels catfish and Guyana for arapaima, giant cats, and payara
Sounds exceedingly expensive, good luck, hope you hammer them all.

The american dollar goes a very long way in South Africa and I dont pay guides. last year I think I maybe spent 600 dollars in 2 weeks after flight and airbnb were paid for. I rented a 3 bedroom house with a pool for 500$ for 2 weeks.

From what I've learned, bonefish are called that for a reason. The old timers in The Bahamas eat them occasionally out of tradition, kind of like my squarehead brethren and lutefisk. Tarpon are also incredibly bony and carry an unpleasant odor. Permit are in the same genus as pompano, and pompano are delicious. I'm going to need to eat a permit for research. Had shots at several on this trip, but they all gave me the middle fin.
permit is delicious

Heres some video of where we launch to get out to sea. Theres no harbor near by, so we dump the boat on the beach with breakaway trailers and tractor pushes us in with a long boom, and then we navigate thru the breakers to get out. Pretty white knuckle rides going out and coming in. Ive got lots of pov videos of us doing it but havnt found a vid editor i like yet.

Sure would think the motors would suck in a lot of sand at launch, pretty wild . . .

My dream spot are 1) halibut fishing in Alaska 2) fly fishing the flats in Florida keys for tarpon, bonefish, and permit 3) this is my biggest dream fly-fishing brown trout in New Zealand
If time and finance allow "sport fish Panama Island Lodge" accomadations, food and fishing second to none. yellowfin , marlin, mahi, roosters, cubera plus dozens more. Starts as a bucket list and turns into yearly adventure!

Tough to beat Alaska where you can catch delicious salmon in front of you and in 5 seconds turn around to shoot delicious moose steaks.
I've been thinking about one of the fishing/coastal black bear combo's more guys are making available. Catching and eating fresh catches on the boat looking for bear doesn't sound too shabby. Living on a boat for 5 days might not be the most comfortable but I would manage

I wouldn't worry too much about the boat. Most of those babies are nicer than my first apartment. I think you'll be fine. (Grin)
