You just don't get it . No one is dictating anything . You want political discussion we have it right here . Go to political discussions , click on it and away you go . To simple ? V put up a political icon on the front page and be done with it .

Actually you are. You are "dictating" that these discussions be off the side bar because this is a hunting and fishing site. Okay no big deal. Simply remove EVERY topic that is not directly related to hunting or fishing off the side bar. Wait a minute some people would not like THEIR favorite topics like make believe football taken off the side bar.

And that action would likely decrease site hits and involvement in the long run.

For those that think politics will "ruin" a site, FBO ran for years under good moderation full of political discussions. And this site has something FBO didn;t with the rep system that is supposedly able to deal with what everyone is whining about political discussions bringing so in theory it should take care of itself thru the posters themselves.

I really don;t care if they are kept in the forum, if I wish to talk politics I will go there. I really don;t care if make believe football is kept on the side bar, I simply will not click on it.

But don;t lay a line of bullshit out there about not "dictating" something or political discussions ruining a site. Piss poor moderation and people with thin skin and waddable panties ruins a site. The proof is in NO and FBO

Yes, And I agree with GST , Lots of topics that have nothing even remotely close to hunting or fishing related content , Maybe we should have a poll to see if they should be on the side bar too. Was I just kidding or was I not ? My point is Your not going to keep everyone happy , It's impossible . If you start letting members make your business decisions on what is best for them it usually never quits , In fact they could "get the run" on you. I just think you could end up holding your business back in the future or if you are forced to make a decision against their wishes, We all know how well that has worked in the past. I would be out of my comfort zone giving others control of my financial destiny for their best interest but that's just me.

Well it's good to see the nay sayers could give 2 shits about the owner and the sites ability to curb operating costs and make this whole project worth somebodies time. The hell with gov control and freedom and all that crap, as long as it doesn't effect you right? Here we have a guy that is raising a family, putting in 12 to 14 hour days at work to put food on the table just to support his family/kids. The rest of his spare time and money goes into this site. Let's just all vote no and expect something for nothing, after all that's the new American way right. Just as long as it doesn't affect your pocket books of course. Unbelievable the logic being used here to make your point of view nice and clear. Do as I say not as I do...........puke

I might be able to put a smaller sidebar (recent 3) below the main sidebar.

This sounds like a good idea. This winter is gonna get awfully boring around here with no politics to chat about. I just can't wrap my head around grown men that can't figure out the simple concept of 'if you don't like it don't click on it. If I didn't know any better I would've guessed this site is made up of a bunch of Obama lovers. Isn't that the liberal way? If I don't like it niether can you? Bring on some politics. You don't like don't click. I could give a rats butt about football or the Souix nick name so I don't click on them threads....its really a pretty simple concept. I don't see how more variety could hurt a site. Less will just hold it back.

Vollmer , What would you vote? Y or N ?

I don't mind showing them, but I don't want them overwhelming the top 1/2 of the home page. I guess, so far, I am leaning towards not changing anything, or adding an additional sidebar block below the main one, that will show the most recent political topics (maybe recent 3).
