Another author that some of you may enjoy, is William Kent Krueger. He's written a few different types of books, but I'm on book two of his series about a sheriff in northern MN. Excellent book. Can't remember the name of the first one, but the second is Boundary Waters. Very good stuff (an admission though: I like reading crime novels)

Yep, Krueger is another great author. A great series. Too

Started reading the Joe Pickett series on and off last winter and just started “off the grid” today. Dang it if these books don’t make me want to quit it all and become a loose cannon game warden.

In a seriousness, I love the series so far! C.J Box can really weave the story lines together.

Have you watched the series Joe picket, I'm not sure if it's the same character as in the books, but it's a good series to watch.

I did watch it. It's roughly based on the books. I think the author pulled the series because it wasn't following the books well at all.
Besides that and some really bad CGI, I enjoyed the series quite a bit!

I'm on my 4th audio book and I sure wish the didn't cancel the series Joe Pickett on paramount. The next 2 books are even better especially the 3rd so far. I even choked up a little bit on the 3rd one but cj brings you out of the doom and gloom pretty quickly. Thanks @Lando for starting this thread

So far force of nature is my favorite which details nates early life and how he deals with that early life. Second is got.to be cold wind about Missys loose ends all the others keep you engaged as well. We could definitely have an official nda cj box book discussion especially since most here could relate with the characters lives and c j box
I listen at work since i can wear ear phones

Another is the anti cj box threads on the left wing reddit, I can see why Joe Pickett got canceled after the 2nd season.

I wonder how much of the book is based on historical or events that actually happen. For instance stone cold talks about Wyoming raising pheasant at a state run facility? The book talks briefly about the pink asphalt roads in Wyoming near the black hills, I have seen pink asphalt roads in northern south dakota they mention that the asphalt mix was made with scoria dust but I thinking from pink crushed granite or red sand stone. Anyways lots of historical references in these books just curious if anyone knows about the pheasant farms.
